Made it just as is and we thought it was perfect. Quick and easy. I omitted celery but other than that did everything step by step. Thanks for an easy recipe.

I agree with Michelle about this being a great base recipe. I also used Corinne's advice in her review and my two guys loved it. A definite keeper, especially for fall and winter. Next time, I am going to use this recipe as a base for pot pie, I think it will be yummy!

I agree with others who've said this is a good base. I followed the recipe as written and let it cook 3 hours on high then 3 hours on low in the crock pot. I checked it and found the taste bland, it wasn't thick enough and there wasn't enough liquid. I tweaked by fixing a packet of brown gravy on the stove and adding that, along with a dash of thyme, rosemary, garlic powder and several shakes of seasoned salt. For personal preference, I added about 1 cup of fresh grean beans and a can of mushrooms too. With the changes it is very yummy and the right consistency I was looking for. The meat cooked up nice and tender (I used pre-cut stew meat).

It was a bit too bland for my taste until I "added " french onion soup mix and a 1/4 tsp bit more flour to give it flavor. I threw in some canned corn too...Kids loved it.

We made this just as the recipe suggests with one exception, we added a package of stew seasoning, and it was great. Super easy and yummy.

I made this using some of the suggestions in the reviews. A bit more flour, a bit more worchestshire sauce. I browned the onions first, then removed those and browned the floury beef, deglazed the pan with the broth. Overall, VERY yummy! I tasted it early on and was concerned about how salty it was, but that faded after cooking for six hours. Still somewhat salty for us though, we don't use much salt usually so maybe we're more sensitive to it. I'll reduce the salt next time. Also, I made dumplings and cooked them on the stove using some of the liquid from the pot. So there wasn't enough liquid left in the end, next time I might add a bit more water if dumplings are in the plan. Overall though, VERY yummy! Very flavourful and tasty. Looking forward to leftovers tomorrow! Z

This was a great beef stew but yes add more worcestershire sauce to sirloin after you braise it and add garlic, beef broth, wine, onion and beef stew seasoning. I simmered beef with a little corn starch for about 1/2 hour till thick. Then put potatoes and carrots in the crock pot with the meat. I added peas and muchrooms at the last just to heat. Make or buy home made bread of any flavor to go with yum.

My boyfriend was able to make this (he only had to call me twice, bless him) and it turned out really great. Would be 5 stars, but we found the seasoning a bit bland and had to add some after we started to eat. Really yummy.

I made this yesterday. I had tried other recipes that didn't come out well (meat was tough) but this recipe was great. Beef and veggies were all so tender and tasty. Thanks!

This seems like it would be a good starting point for a beef stew, but it is very bland on its own. Next time I will follow Corinne's suggestions and see if it turns out better.

Excellent. I made this as written, except that I did leave out the celery (didn't have any) and just eye-balled the amount of potatoes and carrots until it looked right. I will make this again.
