I made this recipe exactly as is but added just a little more broth. I didn't like this stew at all. I'm so disappointed.

We made some of the other suggested changes (added extra flour, 1/2 cup red cooking wine, an extra bay leaf, and a little extra Worcestershire) & really enjoyed the stew.

Fantastic!! Followed the recipe as is and turned out perfect!! What I loved is that, I didnt have to thicken it up. It was thick and hearty just as is.

Fabulous beef stew, I did use Corinne's suggestions (with red wine, yum!) and I will be using this as THE beef stew recipe. I had always used the McCormick packet recipe but all of the other additions really makes it company worthy! Enjoy.

This is exactly what i had in mind when I thought of making stew yesterday. I'm not a big beef eater, so I'd never made beef stew before, but for whatever reason, I was craving it. I followed recipe exactly, and because it was not going to be thick enough, I added about 2 teaspoons of corn meal the last few minutes. After that, it thickend up right away. Delicious!

Good recipe, nothing outstanding. I was out of onion, but I did have french onion soup that I subbed for the broth (I left out the salt too since the soup was so salty).

Very tasty! The only change I made was that I added a packet of MCcormick stew seasoning because all the other slow cooker stew recipes I had tried tasted bland. With just adding the seasoning the stew was delicious and I will continue to make it.

This was the first time I ever used my slow cooker AND the first time I ever made stew! I was very impressed with the results I got from this simple recipe! It tasted delicious, and although I made a few subtle changes, I kept the spices the same and I was surprised at the amout of flavour I got! The only change I made was substituting some of the potato for some sweet potato... I like to use them whenever I can! And I cooked the onions and beef a little before putting it into the slow cooker, JUST to be on the safe side! Other than that, perfect recipe for a cold blustery day!

Awesome beef stew! I didn't change the recipe much. I added a couple splashes of red wine and some rosemary (yum!). I used red potatoes so they would keep their shape. So easy to just throw it all in the slow cooker and 6 hours later, you have a warm and comforting dinner! I served these with French Bread Rolls To Die For from this site and it was an incredible meal.

I thought this stew turned out really well. I will make a few changes next time, I think, like possibly add some cornstarch so it's thicker, and make sure to cook it as long as possible so your potatoes get soft!

This was delicious! The only change I made was I added cornstarch when it was done to make it thick. I thought the whole point of stew was for it to be thick, not thin like a soup. After that, it was fabulous!!

I followed the recipe exactly as shown and it turned out fantastic. My mother came over for dinner that night and raved about it. My husband had it for lunch the next day and made a comment about how great it was. Thanks for the recipe.

Very good stew. I used 1/3 cup flour, 3/4 teaspoon salt, 3/4 teaspoon pepper, 5 potatoes, 2 stalks of celery, 2 cups of beef broth. I also made a 33% less sodium brown gravy packet and added that. Other than that, I followed the recipe. I would add more salt and pepper next time.

Ok so this is a great start to a great stew. I like some of you went ahead and added my own extra's and gave it my own different little flavor. It is good without the extra's but we like it a little hot around here.

I made this stew last week and my husband and I agree that it is definitely becoming a staple in our repitoire. The flavors are wonderful (even better the next day) and it is EASY. i put it all together before i left for work in the morning (took approx 20 min)and came home to the house smelling delicious and the stew ready to go. I followed the recipe exactly.
