This is a wonderful recipe. Such good flavor. The only problem is that my slow cooker is too small so I baked the ribs in the oven at 200 degrees for the same amount of time. Finger-lickin good!!!

ill come back and rate this tomorrow since I haven't tried the ribs just yet. its the night before and i just got done preparing the sauce. i halved the recipe since i am making this for two people and the ketchup taste was a bit overpowering. seemed like it should go on a burger instead of ribs. i added a teaspoon more of vinegar and worcestershire sauce and added a 1/2 t of molasses. i also went a bit heavy on the salt and pepper. think im gonna love it.

This is such a good recipe, except I didn't follow it, like lots of others! But - it's a good base. I used barbecue sauce too, and found it's a real good way to use up bbq sauces when you only have "just a dab" of different ones. The only problem is that the ribs come out a little different each time! Always yummy! The first time I made them I used Sweet Baby Rays bbq sauce and the second time I used a little SBR and a little Bullseye bbq sauce. Depends on what you like. This is an excellent basic recipe.

Usually I make a knockoff of Chili's Ribs which are awesome. But these take no time at all, are super, and great for weekday meal when I work. Sauce is so easy and my opinion is not too many ingredients. I use country-style ribs (more meat). Added a sprinkle of Penzey's BBQ Seasoning to ribs while in oven. For a crockpot recipe this is a winner. Most crockpot recipes are bland and unappetizing. A winner that I will definitely make again.

LOVED this cooking method for ribs. they were great hot out of the slow cooker, and even better the next day as pulled pork sandwiches! i substituted half a bottle of my preferred BBQ sauce for the one in the recipe, which is the only reason i didn't give it 5 stars. definitely recommended!

I used the recipe with beef short ribs and rice. I added a cup of BBQ sauce instead of the 2nd cup of ketchup. The sauce was a little thin, but good. I would eliminate the BBQ sauce next time. For your information, Chili Sauce is not Mexican nor Asian. I buy the Heinz, 12oz size, in a clear glass jar. It's not at all spicy. It mostly contains tomatoes and vinegar with a little corn syrup.

I followed this recipe almost to a T. I omitted the ketchup and the hot sauce. I used a half bottle of jack daniel's brown sugar bbq sauce. I also used mesquite seasoning.Husband said these were 5 star quality. I will be making these again.

I thought your recipe was very nice...and I used each ing. listed. Someone reviewed that we should all just use barbecue sauce and not rate this very well, but I have to say I enjoyed it. If I wanted to use bbq sauce than I would. This is like buying boxed pancake mix, as compared to making the batter yourself. You can add, take away or do as I did...and follow it. Not really sure why someone would tell over 400 reviewers how many stars they should give out for your recipe, but thanks for posting it! :)

I had never made ribs before so I made this esxactly to the recepie and decided it was too hot for us and we don't mind food that is reasonably hot. Good idea that can be adapted to ones own liking.

Excellent, as others have suggested I did use half barbecue sauce and half ketchup... also the chili sauce I used was from the Asian section of supermarket, I used the "sweet" one...this really is a fool proof recipe that can be used just as suggested or with some additional ingredients if the cook wants to try!

To ensure a thicker sauce I cooked the ribs on low for 3 hours with the cover on and then removed the cover for another 2 hours. Letting the ribs cool for an hour afterward also helped the sauce thinken up. We LOVED these ribs....as close as you can get to the real thing without a BBQ. Very moist and delish.

I used an inexpensive pork roast instead of ribs for this, and now it's the only way I'll do pork roast!

I (as have many others) improved this recipe. After browning the ribs (I used regular pork spare ribs) I added a sliced onion to the crock pot, and on a separate bowl I mixed a couple of cups of my favorite BBQ sauce with a couple of tablespoons of vinegar, a teaspoon of hot sauce, and one small chopped up habanero pepper. Dumped the mixture on top of the ribs (which I rubbed with a little garlic powder and salt) in the crock pot, and cooked on low for six hours. Then I CAREFULLY took the ribs out and put them on the grill for 5 minutes per side. They were ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS served with smashed red-skinned potatoes and a veggie!

Oh My God! This was so yummy! the only reason i have given 3 stars instead of 5 is that i think it should be made with BBq sauce not tomato. i followed the recipe exactly and as it was still great i think it'd be 5 star worthy with bbq sauce!

I am giving this recipe five stars for the cooking technique only since I used bottle barbecue sauce. I have never made ribs before but a friend convinced me I needed a slow cooker so I had to find a recipe for my first time using it. I made these grill-free ribs for the family for Labor Day and everyone was very impressed! I used pork loin ribs, cut the rack in half and cooked them in the oven first in a disposable roasting pan, 15 minutes per side, after rubbing with salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder. Then I put them in the slow cooker and dumped two bottles of barbecue over the whole thing since I wasn't sure if one bottle would be enough liquid (they were kind of sitting one on top of the other). After four hours I flipped them to cook evenly and left them on low another 3 hours, then turned them off and left them in the slow cooker for a few hours longer. The next day I cut them apart for serving, drizzled them with the sauce they cooked in and put them in the oven on a foil-covered cookie sheet at 375 until the rest of the food was ready, about 30 minutes, and reheated the rest of the sauce on the stovetop (although next time I think I will only use one bottle and reserve the other bottle for serving, since all the fat cooked out and made the barbecue sauce very fatty). After they came out of the oven they had a nice char on them - you would never know they weren't cooked on a grill! Plus, I only had to clean the slow cooker.

I used a bottle of BBQ sauce to save time. Excellent. I also pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees and allow the ribs to "crisp up" for a few minutes prior to serving.
