I used garlic salt as a substitute for garlic powder also added a can of corn. It was so easy to make and supper delicious! Had no leftovers because family loved it so much!

Best sloppy Joe's ever. Not too sweet, not too salty. I used tomato sauce instead of ketchup because ketchup gives me heartburn. I'm positive they are excellent either way!!!

Just made this and it is so good! I didn't have ground beef, but I did have ground venison. I used one reviewers suggestion of omitting the brown sugar, cutting the ketchup back to 1/2 cup, and adding 1/4 cup of barbecue sauce. So yummy! My fourteen month old loved it, even :)

NOTE: Really about 4.5 STARS, but really very good, with my two changes as follow: I browned the beef and drained the grease in a colander. Using the same pan, I sautéed the onion before returning the beef and adding the rest of the ingredients. I used more brown sugar (about 1 and one-half TBLS) and 1 tsp. of Worcestershire Sauce.

I was committed to making sloppy joes tonight only to find that I was out of my convenient go-to sloppy joe mix. In a rush to find a recipe that called for ingredients I had on-hand, I came across this one. I have to say it was a hit - especially with the kids. Super quick and easy to make and tasty. I think this will now be my go-to - why mess with a mix when it's this easy. The only changes I would make is that I would use a less sweet ketchup - and slightly less brown sugar. I upped the garlic for our taste. Another note is that I made it with a meat substitute and you would be hard pressed to tell the difference. Overall, a great basic recipe that can be personalized as you like. Will definitely make again.
