I have used a recipe almost exactly the same as this one for years but I also add 1/4 cup bbq sauce and 1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce. These sloppy joes are amazing! I have also multiplied this recipe by ten when I cater! Everyone LOVES them!!! My mother would serve these for family dinner on a bun, opened-faced with a slice of American cheese and baked just long enough for the cheese to melt. A family favorite!!! Enjoy!!!

Great recipe! I loved the mixture of flavours and textures... certainly different than the average sloppy joe. I did add about a cup of Ragu sauce in it since our family likes it a little more sloppy - and we all absolutely loved it with this extra addition. Delicious! :)

We love this recipe and use it frequently. Of course, we've tweaked it slightly - we skip the brown sugar, salt, and pepper, and usually use extra onions instead of the green pepper. We don't bother simmering for 30 minutes - doesn't seem to make much difference. This recipe also works well with ground turkey instead of ground beef.

My husband loves this recipe! I make several batches at a time and can the leftovers. One pint make 3 really big sandwiches. It's so nice to just grab a jar off the shelf and heat it up for a few minutes. I also send jars of it to college with my boys.

It tastes GREAT as written! It's a good basic recipe - try it as is first, then adjust to your personal taste. I played around with it - adding more ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, etc., then ended up going back to the original version. I definitely like the original version the best! As an American stationed overseas, I was looking for something to replace the canned version, and this is it! Thanks for the recipe!

Best Sloppy Joes I have ever eaten by far. Perfect sweetness to go along with the flavor of the meat and other spices.

As an American living abroad, I've found myself missing the stuff I grew up eating. These taste just like my mom's Sloppy Joes, and I didn't need to open a can. I added shredded zucchini and diced mushrooms, and added a bit of extra zip with a second spoonful of mustard and a shot of Worcestershire sauce, but even if I had followed the recipe to the letter, it would have worked out to be quite tasty!

Excellent! I used a recipe for homemade ketchup instead of store bought. Great meal.
