This recipe is the best sloppy joe recipe I've ever tried. My family and I have had this recipe twice and it is a really great recipe. I think everyone would love this recipe. I used onion powder instead of onion because my children don't like onions, but it works good. Thanks for the recipe.

I used this recipe for work and make it 250 serving the only thing I will change next time is, cancel out the brown sugar. With the larger amount the ketchup would make it sweet enough. We served it open-face and was enjoyed by all. THANK-YOU for making the recipes able to change amounts, this helps out when having to make large amounts.

Absolute best sloppy joe recipe. My family couldn't get enough off these! I didn't add the green pepper because i didn't have one, but its perfect w/out the pepper as well. I'll never make my old version of sloppy joes again.

I had lost this recipe, and was so glad to find it on here! You simply can't mess it up! I typically leave out the green pepper and use onion powder when browing the beef. I also like to add a few splashes Frank's Red Hot Sauce to give the meat an slight "kick". The only negative thing I can think of is that my house smells like Sloppy Joes for days after I make this recipe! LOL! Thankfully, I love it too much to care! :)

This recipe was excellent even though I substituted Lean Ground Turkey for Beef. I also eliminated the green pepper but added 1 large onion. This was great on the honey wheat soft buns I made. Definitely a keeper ~ Thanks :-)

Like most say, add a bit of water before sauteing, it's too thick otherwise. Yummy, yummy, yummy, you'll never buy Manwich again!

This was a great recipe. So simple to make yet so satisfying. I skipped the sugar since the ketchup I was using was sweet enough already, and unfortunately had no green bell peppers. We added freshly diced tomatoes (about 1/4 to 1/2 cup) in its place. Also used 1/2 lb of ground turkey instead of 1 lb of ground beef. But still, made 3 small sized open-faced sloppy joe sandwiches for me and 3 heaping large ones for my roommate. I think having the green bell peppers would have definitely given it that nice bitter flavor to add to it. We also added a teensy bit of thyme and fresh crushed oregano. YUM!! Would definitely make this again.

Very easy and delicious. Definately going to be one of my cheap and easy meal staples. One of the few dishes my fiance loves. I highly reccomend adding hamburger style sliced pickles, it really compliments the flavor.

I couldn't believe how amazing this recipe was. It tasted exactly like the canned stuffed but felt like it was made with love. I didnt add the brown sugar and it was still perfect. Definetly will be putting into the weeknight rotation.

I made this recipe last night for dinner, it was delicious! The sauce is excellent. I drained the meat before adding the other ingredients. And only stirred it on the stove for about 10 minutes instead of letting it simmer for 30 minutes. This is the BEST sloppy joe recipe I have eaten, definitely a Keeper!

I made this recipe for a weekday dinner instead of using canned mix but wasn't really pleased with the results. I mean, the sloppy joes wern't horrible, they just wern't good. mI didn't think that there was enough tomato flavor or sauce and that it was too beefy tasting if that makes any sense. WOn't b making this again.

Thank you so much for this recipe! My husband now refuses to eat the stuff froma can. I used a colored pepper instead of the green one because we find that green peppers can turn an entire dish bitter. Other than that, it's perfect the way it is.

My husband loved it. We both hadn't had sloppy joes in years and this was a good, easy dinner. I made the following changes: I doubled the sauce as others suggested, it's really a must if you want SLOPPY joes. I also added a tablespoon of minced garlic and about 4-6 ounces of tomato paste. I didn't have brown sugar so I added 1/4 cup barbeque sauce that had brown sugar in it. I served it with corn on the cob on the side.

Perfect! This is the way my mom always made them and it just doesn't get any better. My husband had never had "real" sloppy joes and is now addicted to them.
