I only made a couple of small changes to this recipe. For starters, I doubled the sauce and added a little water to make it a bit saucier. I also substituted 1/4 of the ketchup for some Tastefully Simple Smoky Bacon Grill Sauce. Towards the end I decided it was a little sweet, so I added a couple dashes Chalula hot sauce. They were so good! My hubby liked them, and so did my kids. We hate the canned stuff and I am so glad I came upon this recipe!!!

I added some BBQ sauce to the mixture and omitted the brown sugar. I ended up adding quite a bit more ketchup than the recipe calls for because it seemed really dry. The final result was very tasty, we both enjoyed our meal.

Great flavor! Next time I will double the sauce though 'cause we like Sloppy Joes a little juicier. No changes just MORE! :)

this is the first time I've ever made Sloppy Joe's and they were fantastic! My 3 & 6 year old boys loved them! I wouldn't change a thing.

This was so good! My husband loves sloppy Joes, and he said it was the best he's ever had. I made extra sauce because I read the reviews first, and I'm glad I did because it was the perfect amount.

I have always made my sloppy joes almost the same way. I use fresh garlic, lots. I also add about 2tbs of chili powder or to taste and paprika to taste. I don't add salt because of the ketchup. Best served on a toasted bun. We like our open faced piled high.

This was a great recipe! Brought back all kinds of old memories. I didn't use the brown sugar, BUT I bet it's just as good. I used KC Masterpiece bbq sauce instead.

I grew up without ever eating sloppy joes. So when I had my first one I was excited. It was a Manwich and it was awful. I have never had one since. Now that I have two boys who have had sloppy joes at school (and loved them), I am on a hunt for a good recipe. This is it! I followed some other person's advice and only used 1/2 c ketchup and 1/4 c bbq sauce and omit the brown sugar. I pureed the onion and bell pepper in a blender before adding it to the beef. My boys don't like the veggie looking stuff so I had to be a little sneaky. I ate mine with toasted corn tortilla chips (kinda like a chili) and it was fabulous.

I tried it with ground turkey and it wasn't as good as I'd hoped. Next time I will use extra lean ground beef instead. I left out the mustard because we didn't have any on hand and the flavor was still good.

My husband doesn't really like sloppy joes but he did like this recipe. I thought it was much better than any mix or canned sloppy joes you can get in the grocery store and I didn't think it needed any more spices but I can see if you are one who likes hot and spicy that you would want to kick this one up a bit. Excellent recipe - I highly recommend it.

Very classic recipe. Tweaked it a little bit...added canned tomato soup and reduced the amount of ketchup by about 1/4 of a cup per pound, also i didnt use the brown sugar.

This was a very good basic recipe. We didn't have green peppers so I used carrots instead. It was very tasty. My kids live on hot sauce, so both felt the need to spice it up, and then they devoured it.
