In Belgium nobody knows Sloppy joes, I made them, and everybody was crazy about this recipe. I added a little bit green pepper and some cheese on top...

My family loved this recipe. We usually use the can stuff and have once made it from scratch in the crockpot, but no one was impressed. I was out of the can stuff and had already planned on making htese so I gave this recipe a try and it was a success. I added some fresh chopped tomatoes from my garden and skipped the brown sugar because the barbeque sauce I was using had mango in it and I didn't want it to be overly sweet. The leftover idea is great, but don't plan on there being any!

This is so delicious! I added dried onion flakes instead of real & I halved the recipe since I Have a small family. I added about 1/8 c. dried onions. And I didn't have onion powder so I added onion salt & it still tastes fabulous! Great recipe! And way simple! Love it!

This is my absolute favorite Sloppy Joe recipe! Have made an almost identical recipe many times, but only use half as much ketchup and barbeque sauce and don't add the onion powder to the sauce. I enjoy it as a traditional sandwich on a bun, but sometimes serve it as a meat sauce on top of pasta and sprinkled with shredded cheese.

I love this recipe! I mix all the sauce ingredients togther along with the italian seasoning and onion powder and pepper and i also put some red pepper flakes in and let it sit while the meat is browning (i use ground turkey) then mix in with meat turns out great. I cut back on the onion also. This freezes well.

I thought they were to sweet. My 10 year old daughter took one bite and said she didn't like it.

This recipe was just ok. If it had been called "Barbecue Sloppy Joes" it would have been different. The barbecue taste was just too strong for my liking. I did take the advice of other reviewers and scaled back on the onion. Without brown sugar in the house, I used vidalia onions for the sweetness, which worked well. My husband wasn't impressed at all - and he loves barbecue - but he was really looking forward to old fashioned sloppy joes.

This is a great and easy recipe! We really liked these and my husband is a very picky eater and doesn't like onions, green peppers and etc. I did omit the onions and only used 1 cup of ketchup and 1 cup of water. Other than those changes everything else was fine. So, I got a thumbs up from him! Very simple and good! I also made these to go on "Soft Sandwich Buns", from this site. These buns are so good and went great with the sloppy joes! Yummy dinner!

This was a wonderful recipe. Most of the recipes i've tried on here get at least a few ingredients added to what is listed. This was the first one that I didn't change at all. A great tasting, easy, fast dinner. The best part is, the only things I needed to buy were the ground beef and the buns. :)

I agree that I would cut the amount of onions in half (and I usually love onion) but otherwise it was super simple and it should be a real crowd pleaser at my daughter's baptism party this weekend. Thanks for sharing, fellow Wisconsinite!!

Yum! A real kid pleaser. Being true to my nature I had to make a modification or two: I used half the amount of onion and I added some crushed red pepper flakes for a little kick. I served it with homemade fries. We have a lot of full tummies this evening! Thanks for sharing.

I planned to make this ahead of time and then ran out of ketchup when it came time to make it. I had to substitute, of all things, Prego original spaghetti sauce. I also omitted the onions from the recipe. The results were surprising. A little sweet but still good. Even people who don't normally like sloppy joes enjoyed this. Next time I'll hopefully be able to follow the directions using ketchup but I'll probably decrease the amount of brown sugar. Otherwise a great and easy recipe. Thanks for posting.

My family loved this recipe. A little heavy on the onion for my taste and I will reduce the onion by half next batch, or maybe use Vidalia sweets only... and the bbq sauce, ketchup and prepared mustard combo with italien seasonings was wonderful!
