This was really good and I used it as a base for what I had in the house. I used apple chicken sausage, threw in some leftover cabbage, a sweet potato and 2 apples. I juiced half a real lemon, added the brown sugar but omitted the salt. I also added cinnamon and nutmeg per another reviewers idea.

I used one package of kielbasa instead of pork sausage links and two large apples. I wanted it a little saucier so I melted a few tablespoons of butter in a skillet, added the brown sugar and lemon juice and a little cinnamon/nutmeg. I did not use the salt. This was really good. Next time, I'd make more "sauce".

I used venison sausage so it was crumbled meat and added the apples, etc... after the meat was cooked - only leaving out the salt. Served it for dinner along with waffles. The family thought it was great! (Except they added salt!)

This review is just for the apples. I needed a faster way to make baked apples and this worked great.
