This is one of the best ideas I've come across in awhile! I usually make chicken tortilla soup from scratch, making my own broth and everything from the whole chicken, but this was JUST as good and in 1/4 of the time! Of course I made changes...I sauteed some onions in olive oil for a few minutes in the bottom of my pot. The oil really helps bring out the flavor of the spices. I used a can of chicken broth, can of water, and a can of Cream of Chicken as recommended by others. I was liberal with the Comino and Chili Powder. I also added a cup of rice to the mix at the end to soak up the extra water. Added in some cilantro to each bowl and shredded some Monterrey Jack cheese in while hot. DELICIOUS!

Pretty easy and tasty. I used chicken thigh meat and added rice into the mix along with a few more seasonings.

I've made this for along time and it's always a hit in our house. I usually use fresh chicken and cook it like taco meat with taco seasoning before I add it to the crock pot to simmer all day. The house smells great by dinner time. Oh and the grocery store regularly has the ingredients on sale so I always stock up and have it ready to go anytime.

this is by far my favorite thing I make, and I've been making it for yrs..but I change it a bit..I use frozen boneless skinless chicken breasts, dbl the black beans..add 2 cans stewed tomatoes (a must) a small can of salsa verde..and a cup of salsa..only one of the cans of chicken broth plus one can tomato sauce.. and some cumin and garlic powder.. top with crushed tortilla chips, shredded cheese, and sourcream... I have people request that I make this for them regularly..we all love it!

This is good for what it is advertised as--an easy and good recipe, so my 4 star reflects that. Also, I'd describe this as a good base soup, and I added a lot of extra seasonings to taste, including: 3 to 4 Tbsp Cumin (could have added more); 2 to 3 Tbsp Cayenne Pepper Sauce; some garlic powder/salt.

Wasn't tastey. I give it two stars because it didn't cost much and it was easy. The canned chicken is what made it taste so bad. It should have been made with chicken breast baked with seasoning and shredded when cooked.

I used the chicken, onions, and peppers left-over from fajitas to spice this up a bit. I also added cumen, garlic powder and fresh cilantro.

My boyfriend ate it all! I was nervous about serving it over chips, as I hate mushy food, but it was awesome. First time we ever cooked it and it was gone. Added chili powder, cayenne pepper, garlic powder and sea salt. YUM!

Loved it! Easy and very flavorful. The only change I made was to the chicken. I boiled i package of chicken thighs in chicken broth and a packet of chicken taco seasoning for ninety minutes, then shredded the chicken. I added the remaining ingredients to the chicken broth along with the shredded chicken and brought to a boil. I also added some diced jalapenos for a kick! Served over the tortilla chips with Sour cream and a pinch of cilantro. Huge Hit! This is my new favorite

I took the suggestions of others and doctored this up a bit with a few spices, (chili powder, cumin, garlic powder), onion and used grilled chicken. We put cheese on top, but I think next time we will try adding a dollop of sour cream as well. It was very good, even the picky 4 year old ate it up. Thanks for a great starting base!

This recipe is great. I did knock down one star because I much prefer the taste of the "slow cooker chicken taco soup" recipe (from this website) but this version is so much easier to make. The results are pretty tasty, too!

Very good recipe, thanks for sharing! The only 2 things I did differently were 1 I used a store bought whole chicken and shreded it and 2 I used one can of chicken broth and one can of cream of chicken like other reviewers suggested. Very good, nice kick to it, going to be making this again very soon!

This was a decent start to a good recipe. It just needs some extra seasoning but it was very easy. I used a rotissiere chicken which added good flavor. Thanks for the recipe.

This was such a good change of pace for us. I had every item available at home, no quick run to the store. I used 1/2 can cream of chk with 1/2 can broth. I added frozen corn, chunky salsa, HOT sauce, chili powder. I added crushed up torilla chips with guac, sour cream and cheese on top. This was awesome and soooo easy!

This was fabulous!!!! I used suggestions from previous reviewers and it turned out perfect! I added the following to the recipe: 1 can of cream of chicken soup, 1 fresh tablespoon of cilantro, 1 heaping teaspoon of cumin and 1 heaping teaspoon of chili powder. This soup is SOOOOOOOO good!!!! It's great with tortilla chips or regular flour tortillas.
