I used deer meat instead of turkey. My husband thought it was really good. This is a very simple recipe and I will be using it again if it ever gets cold enough in Texas.

This is a GREAT recipe -- so easy! I just made a few little changes: I thought it was a little spicy for guests, so I cut both the chili powder and cayenne pepper in half; I doubled the salt (and I'm not a salt fanatic -- this recipe really needs more); also, I thought it could use more beans, so I added 1 (16oz) can of chick peas, you could add another can of kidney beans instead; finally, I served it with shredded cheese and sour cream on top. Truly, such an EASY recipe, with a great taste -- THANKS!

This is great! I gave it four because I changed a couple things to fit my taste, but kept the same idea of the recipe. Firstly I scaled the recipe in half but still used a full can of crushed tomatoes and beans. Also I used pinto instead of kidney beans since I don't really like kidney beans. Once I seasoned as directed I found it to be a little bland, so I doubled the salt and the cumin. Also added about 1 tablespoon of sugar cause I like a little sweeter sauce. Top it off with cheese and sour cream and it was delicious!

Made pretty much exactly according to the recipe (save using an extra 1/3 pound of turkey), and my wife just declared this her favorite chili. Very easy, and delicious with a side of cornbread.

This was a very simple recipe. I did add 2 cans of diced tomatos and blended them with a handblender. I also used the handblender to blend the Kidney beans. I did add a can of corn. I added only half the amount of cayenne pepper . My whole family loved it. They didn't even have to pick out the beans because they couldn't see them. We will be making this chilli again for sure.

Made a double batch. Turned out pretty spicy for us. Was able to tame it with extra beans and tomato sauce. Probably should have cut the cyanne after using chipotle chili powder.

...my last boyfriend fell in love with me because of this recipe.....i use 3 beans--kidney, pinto, and black beans. I make a little chili powder mix and keep it in an airtight container to use in this recipe and taco recipes...2TBS chili powder, 2TBS kosher salt, 2TBS cumin, 1/4tsp cayanne chili powder

I cooked your chili tonight and cooked it exactly by the recipe, I resisted adding my own touches and I have to say it was VERY good. I will definitely cook it again and I won't have any problems cooking it by the recipe without any tampering by me. This is very good Chili and its not many calories at all. Thank you for sharing with us. It's approximately 150 cals which is roughly 3 points for any of you weight watchers out there. Good Stuff.

Took out some ground turkey this morning to make my favorite soup, but saw this instead. How easy and very tasty! I am not fond of spicy foods, but added just enough kick for DH. (He will add the rest.) I am always using basil and added a teaspoon of dried. It is a great addition. I also added some frozen corn and just let it simmer. Served with crackers as we usually do with chili. A great Saturday lunch! Thank you for the great tips.

We have made a similar recipe with Girl Scouts on campouts and it is a big hit. The Colemans talked about making it not so soupy, so add a tablespoon or two of masa close to the end and it thickens it up. Don't let it cook too long afterwards as it continues to thicken. We use tomato sauce as a lot of the girls don't like tomatoes and used a combination of kidney beans and black beans. I like the idea of using some tofu which one reader suggested, will try that next time.

This was a flavorful tasting basic chili recipe. We didn't drain the beans nor crushed them, and for additional liquid we added a can of chili tomato sauce (vs. water). It was a big hit.

I like thick chili, so I added double undrained tomatoes and beans and didn't add hardly any water. I also dumped in the spices and my family didn't even realize it was turkey! Good healthier option that also was a good trick.

This chili is terrific! I did make a few changes though. My family doesn't care for kidney beans, so I used black beans; added a can of chili beans; used beef broth instead of water; increased salt to 1 tsp.

This was pretty good and pretty quick. I will definitely make it again. I sauted the onions and added celery in while cooking the turkey. Next time I will cut the turkey in half and add another can of beans (did not mash). I also only added 1 T of mild chili powder. We have some strong chili powder.
