"Powdered sugar takes the place of granulated sugar in this sweet standby from Maxine Guin of Barnhart, Missouri. 'I received the recipe for this tasty cookie from a cook I worked with at our local school,' she recalls."

This recipe was delicious and so simple. The cookies came out so soft. I didn't know how it would be with powdered sugar, but they were great. My family ate them up! I topped them with icing and sprinkles for christmas. This is the only sugar cookie recipe I will use!

If you like soft and creamy sugar cookies you'll love this recipe! I didn't roll the dough in plastic wrap - I just refrigerated the dough for an hour and rolled into balls. Since I used salted butter, I did not add any additional salt to the batter.

These cookies just melt in your mouth! My husband and kids (and neighbor) absolutely loved these sugar cookies! I swear, the cookies are soooo easy to make, they are velvety smooth and they just crumble and melt as soon as you take a bite. I will definitely be using this as my new sugar cookie recipe! P.S. If you are going to be using cookie cutters, I suggest you don't use the solid mold ones because the dough can be farely soft and will get stuck in the mold. I suppose it would be better to use the old fashioned metal ones! ;)

I made some changes but these were awesome! 1/2 cup more of flour, 1/4 more powdered sugar, 1/2 teaspoon more baking soda and cream of tartar. I rolled between wax paper after refrigerating and thy worked perfectly for metal cookie cutters. They tured out light and fluffy and better than the store!!! I would suggest light frosting they can be fragile.

My first attempt at sugar cookies and this one was a winner! I had friends and family asking for "my recipe" when it's usually the other way around! Buttery melt in your mouth goodness, yum!! I drizzled milk chocolate over the tops the second time I made them, but these are fantastic just plain! (or with sugar sprinkles!) Try them, you'll love them!

FABULOUS recipe! The dough was very soft & I was not able to slice it, so I flattened golf ball size balls of dough. I highly recommend that you double the batch - they melt in your mouth and go very fast!

This recipe was great! I use it when ever my brother wants something sweet. It easy and delicious! I think I may make mine a bit bigger than the recipe says, but I usually bake mine for about 15 minutes. I usually have 16 cookies in each batch, and I am able to make 2 batches. They are best right out of the oven, but still great later.

Wow! Very good recipe. These cookies were a huge hit in my office. They simply melt in your mouth. My oven is usually about average temperature but I baked these for less than 8 minutes. Maybe mine were smaller than the recipe suggests, but I recommend keeping a close eye on the cookies and taking them out as soon as the edges start to brown so they stay extra soft. I will definitely be making this recipe again. Thanks for sharing!

Excellent! I didn't have time to make traditional cutouts for my daughter's class. I tried these and I'm sure I'll be using this recipe from now on!

This recipe was excellent, and was gone within about three minutes after taking them out of the oven. However, instead of butter I used coconut oil. And I will probably cut the sugar down to just a cup next time as well. I also added a bit of cinnamon, and didn't bother to make them into a roll and refrigerate them. But they still turned out perfectly, and they were huge too. I will definitely make these again VERY soon.
