I made these for an English tea that I put on for a family member that was getting married (kind of like a bridal shower with an English theme). It was the first time I had made these and they were a huge hit! At least 6 people asked me for the recipe. Not too sweet, not dry, and they melt in your mouth. Delicious!
I made one change for future recipes. The recipe says to cut the dough into 8 triangles, which makes awfully big scones. I cut them in half again to make 16 scones and reduced the baking time to 14 minutes, checking on them during the last two minutes to make sure they didn't get too brown. This makes a nicer size that will feed more people.
