I subbed 1/3 cup heavy cream for the sour cream (that's what I had in the fridge) and used cranberries instead of raisins. Also added zest grated from one orange. I glazed with 1/4 c powdered sugar and 1-2 t orange juice.

I have made a few different scone recipes and this is by far the best. It isn't too sweet so it can be used for various purposes. I personally add blueberries instead of raisins and they turn out fantastic. Also adding some cinnamon to the mix and using cinnamon chips works out well.

I omitted the raisins and added 2 tsp orange zest and @ 1/2 cup chopped almonds. Very tasty. I also used a food processor for the butter rather than grating it.

This was my first attempt at scones, and they were simple and delicious. I will definitely be making these often, trying different additions of nuts, berries, etc...

Very delicious Recipe. My husband loved them! I was always afraid to try a scone recipe but this was so easy. Followed recipe exactly and flavored them with 2 t. orange zest and 1-2 t. orange juice. Brushed the tops with egg wash and sprinkled with sugar. Will try this recipe with other flavors. I bet the sky is the limit with what youcan flavor with. Using the food processor is a good idea BUT only if your processor can accomodate the amount of indgredients. Parchement paper is recommended!!

I have made this recipe no less than 30 times, and the results are perfecty every time! I did however change the flavors to suit my family. We use dried cranberries and orange extract, and sometimes a bit of orange rind to flavor them, as most in my family are not fans of raisins. I have also changed out the cranberries for chocolate chips, which with the citrus flavor underneath is a nice and refreshing change! If you need a classic and adjustable scone recipe...this is it!!!

I'm not very good at baking but LOVE eating fresh! This recipe is perfect for me (newbie). It's easy to follow and very forgiving! I used box grater for butter (salted). I skipped baking soda (ran out) and the scones still came out perfect! I double serving size (for holidays party) so I didn't really measure everything 100% exactly as written in the recipe. I was surprise that my scones came out moist, perfectly sweeten and very very good! They were a hit at the party as well. For Christmas party, I added pieces of dried cranberries and sprinkled with sugar powder and name it Snowberry Scone.

I have to add to the number of positive reviews for these scones. I made them as stated, except added a bit of almond extract and dried cherries that had been softened in water. Family raved and this WILL be our new favorite recipe.

These were delicious. I am not a big fan of raisins though so I substituted the raisins with chopped up white and milk chocolate. I melted the remaining chocolate and drizzled it on top of the scones when they were finished. Delicious!

These were sooooooo good and simple. Grating the butter is such a good idea. I didn't have to freeze it first though. Butter hardens more than margarine so it was already a perfect consistency. No prep work...YEAH! That also means I can make this whenever we want :-) I left out the raisins but will try adding dried blueberries.

I had these scones with lemon curd, which I found the recipe on this website as well. They were heavenly delicious!! Also, they're very easy to make. I didn't use a food processor because I didn't have it. But I still made the dough with an ease. Thank you so much for the fabulous recipe.
