This was very eatible, but not what I was looking for. I was expecting a thicker sauce with a more complex flavor, so I'll keep looking for a good alfredo sauce and use this when I want a simple garlic sauce.

The key to alfredo sauce is this; equal parts cream, butter and parmesan. Alfredo will always appear thin when done, then thicken upon standing and it will always taste like the strong cheese it is-There should be no mistake. Also Real cream, not 1/2&1/2. If you only have 1/2&1/2, use a conversion chart and add appropriate butter to make it heavy cream. Other than that, this recipe is great if you're looking for a lower fat creamy meal-This recipe is not alfredo sauce, It's garlic cream sauce with parmesan garnish. Very tasty, but not alfredo.

This was absolutely delicious!! I didn't change a thing - except to add the shrimp after the sauce thickened and to add dried parsley (didn't have fresh) to the sauce mixture. IT WAS SOOOOOOO GOOD! I will make this again for sure!

This recipe is divine! I doubled the garlic, onion and half and half. I also recommend removing shrimp after it is done and then adding back to your sauce when it is thickened. I added about 1/2 cup parmesan to my sauce along with about 1 Tbsp cornstarch because the sauce wasn't as thick as I would like. And I also used larger shrimp. The family loved it!!

Easy, fast and excellent. What more can you expect! Would be nice to try with one third white wine and two third cream.

Actually this should be a 3.5 rating. I agree with many of the other reviews in that the recipe was quite bland (missing flavor). I followed the recipe as written, however, followed other reviewers advise and removed the shrimp from the sauce pan )about 2 mins sauted on medium heat (med size shrimp) before making the sauce and adding back in long enough to re-warm before serving. This is a definate MUST, otherwise the shrimp would be overcook and be rubbery. I also added extra garlic and other spices including a few red pepper flakes, oregano, etc. as mentioned in other reviews, being careful not to alter the recipe too much as written, but flavor was still missing. While the dish was definately edible, my family was disappointed and suggested I try a different recipe next time.

I made some changes because we like garlic and I wanted to make sure I had plenty of sauce. I added 2 TB spoons of garlic (instead of 4 tsp) chopped very fine. One and half cups heavy cream and one half cup of cool water with 2 tsp corn starch stirred in it (as a thickener). I also used one cup of shaved parmesan cheese which I stirred in just before the shrimp. I thawed the shrimp and drained all water from them. The shrimp was in the sauce just long enough to heat them. They were still soft and juicey. We don't usually eat dishes like this very often, but when we do, I go all out. Just have a big salad with it!!

I dont know if I did something wrong, but this was totally bland. Note to self, don't try something new for dinner when you're having guests over!

Excellent! Took others advice and doubled sauce, used heavy cream with chicken stock. Doubled cheese - will consider even more for next time. Added bell peppers, broccoli and instead of lemon slice garnish, I squeeezed a half a lemon into the sauce as per another's suggestion. Used approximately 2 tsp cornstarch to thicken sauce. Again beware: don't overcook the shrimp!

We really enjoyed this! Used mainly whipping cream, a lot less pepper, & a dash of nutmeg; added most of the parmesan with the sauce; added the shrimp after the sauce had thickened due to the fact I used precooked shrimp.

This was good but slightly bland. I added more garlic then it called for. I also used margaring insteatd of butter because I didn't have butter. Maybe that is why it tasted alittle bland. The sauce wouldn't get thick so I had to add some flour to thicken.

We had this for dinner on Christmas Eve and it was fantastic. I did add fresh mushroom slices when I sauteed the onions and garlic. Also threw in a splash of sherry at the very end. Wonderful and easy company dinner.

Sauce was defiantly on the thin side and there wasn't enough to go around, Tasted good though. Halved the shrimp and added asparagus which worked great. Sauce didn't taste very strong and I think it would be a good base to work with.
