Excellent base recipe, but there's no way this dish, from start to finish, is ready in 50 minutes. "Prep time 30 minutes" only possible if many steps are completed in advance. The results are well worth the 2 hours, from start to finish, prep time - multiple pots, pans and utensils needed. Used advice of other reviewers (sour cream, parsley & garlic added to 50/50 potato/parsnip combo; garlic, fresh thyme, tomato paste. worcestershire & white wine added to meat minus catsup; added peas & corn to mashed carrots; sprinkled paprika on top of cheese before baking). Made St Pat's Day a celebration - very yummy. A real comfort food and options are endless.
