I did not use the bell pepper, tomato or lettuce and this was still quite delish. I'll definitely make this again.....perhaps next time half guacamole, half without.

The next time I use this recipe I wont mix the sour cream with cream cheese. I like them separated. Also with the left overs since I had alot. I made some taco beef and then put then beef in the burrito and the 7-layer dip inside the burrito. Buttered the outside of the burrito and put it on the skillet. It was GREAT!

I made this for a tailgate party and it was a huge hit! As others suggested, I used a 9x13 aluminum tin and it fit perfectly. I left out the lettuce because it wilts but otherwise the recipe was perfect. I will definitely make this again.

I made a double batch because I knew a dish with one can of refried beans wasn't enough. It would have been just about right! Maybe leaving a few wanting more. I used guac vs lettuce. Put part together the night before, and finished it up in the morning. The only problem I ran into was the salsa was too watery and it flooded my refrigerator when it ran off the plate. I will strain my salsa next time. Yummm

this dip is a definite winner. I substituted the lettuce with guacamole. The green pepper and sour cream mixed with cream cheese is what sets it apart from other taco/layered dips

Okay, this recipe really is perfect as-is. I needed something for a work Halloween potluck and I struck gold with this one. Only thing I did was to use 1.5 cans of beans instead of 1. This way, the entire bottom of my 9x13 glass dish was covered. Everything else was the same! Very, very simple and easy to make. I highly recommend using ALL ingredients on the list. Fresh veggies really make a difference and so does the shredded lettuce. I did the bottom 2 layers (beans/seasoning and cream cheese/sour cream) the night before and let them chill overnight. Half an hour before the party, I then added my salsa layer, then lettuce w/ veggies, then cheese then olives...PERFECTION. The entire dish was gone first bf all of the other dishes! Everyone was raving about it. I really couldn't believe the positive reaction. HIGHLY recommend!

This is fantastic and is now my go-to recipes for parties. I have a trifle bowl that I make it in and bring it covered with saran wrap to every party. Always a winner!

Delicious. But also very high. It's a lot of food for sure. It didn't all go at the party, however, I loved it and will use it again. Perhaps make something a bit smaller so as to not get my feelings hurt.

If you really want to do something different with 7 layer dip, spread the bean mix and a layer of queso dip (old el paso has one ... there are others.. same sized jar as salsa) to the bottom of the pan. Stick that in the oven at 350 until it bubbles. add a layer of salsa, then sour cream then guac. i just add some diced red onions and diced tomatoes... grated cheese and shredded lettuce on top... mmmmm mmmmm!

It was good, but I omitted the lettuce and green peppers. But the main reason I did not rate this 5 stars is that I did not necessarily see the point of mixing cream cheese with the sour cream. More calories, not overwhelmingly more flavor. Good, but not great. Thanks though!

Brought this to a potluck and got rave reviews! A few people said it was the best 7 Layer Dip they had had and asked for the recipe. I did the following layers: 1. beans/taco seasoning, 2. cream cheese/sour cream, 3. guacamole, 4. medium chunky salsa, 5. lettuce/green peppers/tomatoe/green onions, 6. cheese, 7. olives.

Took this to a family gathering. I didn't have refried beans so subituted drained, mashed black beans. I had bits and pieces of cheeses, mozarella, jalapino jack and cheedar, also no salsa so a couple splashes of hot sauce. It disappeared!!!!
