i have made this dip so many times for work, every time we have a "party" its requirement! sometimes if the tomatoes don't look good in the store, i will substitute those for a layer of salsa, and it tastes excellent too. i also like mine spicy so i put in extra taco seasoning plus ancho chili powder. i've even used light sour cream and light cheese and no one knew the wiser! lastly, i like to buy the chopped olives in the can, they are so easy to use and bite sized... comes out great every time!!

Very good recipe. I just used the already made guacamole because I was short on time. I really liked the sour cream-taco seasoning mixture! Thanks!

This was great, and so easy! I prefer to use sliced olives so folks who don't like them can pick them off easily. Instead of garlic salt, I used 1/2 tsp. plain salt (didn't think garlic flavor went.) I also omitted the pepper, since the taco seasoning has plenty of spice and flavor. I used light sour cream the first time I made this, and fat-free sour cream the second time -- both were just fine! Just a personal preference - I think 1 1/2 cups of cheese is plenty. It's also good if you add a layer of finely chopped lettuce when you add the green onions, just to have extra veggies (but then it becomes an 8-layer dip!). Thanks for the recipe!

This is such a wonderful dip. I was worried the taco seasoning might be a bit overpowering, but it was perfect. I serve this dip at our poker nights and everyone LOVES it! I get creative with the presentation by applying the olives and tomatoes only to certain areas. This way, picky eaters can still enjoy the dip. You can't go wrong with this!

My husband is always bringing home avocados for me to make the guac. it is very easy to make the only thing i do diferant is cut down the cilantro alot. otherwise it tastes to leafy. if i don't have any fresh cilantro i use the dried-

This did not go over well at my 'Mexican Theme' party - the only thing I can attribute it to is that I used 'Hot' taco seasoning instead of normal and it was a bit spicy. This got great reviews online, but only about 1/3 of the dip was eaten...it seems like something was missing to give it a special oomph! like cream cheese or shredded lettuce to add more texture.

This is a great recipe! I use all low-fat or fat free products (except the cheese) to feel a little better about eating a ton of it! ;)

I omitted the cilantro because it's not a fav at our house. However the fresh made guacamole is superbe! Lime really brings out great flavor! Also left out the taco seasoning didn't have any on hand. Used freshly made refried pinto beans and fat free sour cream for a lower calorie/fat dip and everyone loved it! It's one of the best I've had! Thanks!

This was your traditional seven layer dip that was popular at the party I had. It does make a lot, so be prepared for that. I left out the cilantro, but it still came out great. I will make this again! Oh one more thing, I added about 1/2 a cream cheese block (4 oz) to the sour cream and then I microwaved the beans and sour cream mixture a little before adding the rest of the layers. If you do cook it a little though, I would recommend refridgerating the cooked portion before adding the rest of the layers.

This dip is awesome! I've made it twice and it disappears in an instant! In the recipe it says you can make it in a 9x13 pan, BUT I have to DOUBLE the recipe for that size pan. I recommend using a pie pan if you don't double.

Loved this dip! I didn't use the mexican blend cheese, but I'm sure if I had it would have been better! Also, I didn't need to use 4 roma tomatoes. 2 roma tomatoes covered the top nicely. But I love tomatoes, so I would have liked it with 4 too. I just wasn't sure if my guests liked a lot of tomatoes. So .. Will make this over and over again.
