I really liked the combination of the spices; including the amount of red pepper... however, I added garlic and majoram while cooking the beef. I did not have red wine so I used sherry instead, and milk instead of half-n-half. Living now in an arid environment, I feel as though I needed a tad more liquid.
I have both a 3 and 5 year old so the red pepper is going to turn them off, so I will be adding some cheese on top of their portions to mask some of the heat.
My husband liked the combo but felt the crushed pepper could be reduced by half. We are looking forward to trying it once it has finished in the oven. Thank you for sharing.
