beef tenderloin (filet mignon) or sirloin steak, 1 to 1 1/4-inch thick, trimmed and cut into 4 steaks
crumbled Gorgonzola or blue cheese
Les loved the onions
The steak was fine (hard to mess that up) but the carmelized onions were awful. This version was a never repeat for us.
Used my extra caramelized onions on a salad the next day, delicious!
Will make this again. The steak had great flavor. I did not have blue cheese (because I do not care for it) but used feta instead. It was great. The onions were very tasty and I made enough to put on burgers.
I was looking for a recipe for caramelized onions to put on burgers, and this looked good, so I tried it. I made ONLY the onions, not the steak part.
The onions were quick, easy, and delicious. The leftovers are still wonderful warmed up the next day. And these onions make for some killer burgers.
I followed the recipe exactly, no changes.

Awesome. Made for my husband's Valentines Day dinner. We don't even care for Gorgonzola cheese but the combination was delicious!
Had a large piece of tenderloin so cut off some steaks and followed the recipe exactly (well, I just can't caramelize onions without butter, so I added some of that...). It was wonderful! Got a thumbs up from my husband, who found it restaurant worthy. I noticed the leftovers disappeared this morning... so definitely a keeper! This was very easy to make, and I think the balsamic and beef broth could be substituted with red wine, I will probably try that next time. Went perfectly with a caesar salad.
