I'll never buy falafel mix again! Great recipe and very easy to make. I baked these as well using HEAVENSNT86 tips.

This was a long recipie to make... But worth the wait! the falafels came out well the ones that I coated in breadcrumbs, and some i dusted with flour held together better than the ones i did not. I added 1/2 stalk celery, and 1/8 cup of sweetpepper to the mix. I used geram masala as it has in both corriander and cumin. For the sauce i used an alternate version, where i added 1 tsp lemon juice I clove garlic some parsly and cilantro to the sauce. YUmmy this is my "midnight" snack lol

We had this for dinner a couple of nights ago and are already planning to make it again. Followed the recipe exactly, but cooked it in the oven on a lightly oiled pan and brushed it with olive oil at each turn. After dinner and the next morning we just ate them cold out of hand! Overall, this is a delicious, easy to prepare, inexpensive and still very interesting meal.

I haven't had falafel before, but always wanted to try it. These were great! I doubled the recipe and it took a long time to prepare, but they were worth it! I forgot the coriander and added a pinch of curry. I also squeezed out as much liquid as I could from the onion/parsley mixture. It think that is the key to the patties not falling apart. I used a piece of wax paper to form a log then sliced (like you would for slice and bake cookies). I then laid out the patties, folded the wax paper over, and pressed them lightly with the bottom of a glass. I dipped them in oil and baked them @ 350 for 10 minutes each side, then broiled for a couple mins each side. Turned out crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The sauce is awesome as well. To that I added juice of half a lemon and a few liberal shakes of garlic powder and used sour cream instead of mayo. I squeezed as much liquid out of the cucumbers as I could and the sauce wasn't thin at all. I let it sit for an hour or so. Served in pitas with lettuce and tomatoes. Will be making these again for sure!

Great quick and easy meal. Instead of making the cucumber sauce I use creamy cucumber salad dressing.

Delicious!! I have had better sauce, but it still tasted good when tasted together with the falafel and some feta and lettuce in a pita. I pan fried mine and it does soak up a lot of oil. I'll try baking next time to see the difference in flavor. Edited:1/22/09= This time I used the food processor for the chickpeas, formed them into balls and did not flatten them. Deep fried them, and they did not get greasy at all, nor did they fall apart. Perfect!

This was good served in a pita with sunflower sprouts and tomato, but the falafel by itself was just so-so. I baked it, but it was the flavor that wasn't right. I thought the cumin was too heavy, and it could have used more garlic and maybe even a bit of tahini (I don't know exactly what was missing; it just didn't taste nearly as good as others I've had). I used Greek yogurt for the sauce, and it had a nice flavor, but it tasted much better before I added the mayo.

Very good! I used 1/2 of a large onion, and a few tablespoons of dried parsley. I had to add an extra egg for moisture, and still only used 1 cup of bread crumbs. My only complaint is that this was pretty salty. Since the beans are already salty, I will omit the added salt next time.

Great recipe! Both kids (4 & 2) ate it with a different Tzatziki sauce from this site, stuffed into Peppy's pita bread recipe. Wonderful! My only alterations were I used maybe 1/3 cup cilantro instead of the parsley (none at the store) and I baked them for 20 min., then broiled for 2 min/side. I also mashed the beans with my pastry blender, which was quick and easy.

I first tasted falafel in a Greek restaurant and really enjoyed it. When I came across this recipe I figured it wouldn't taste as good as the resaurant but I tried it.......I was wrong.....not only was it easy to make it tasted great. Being a vegetarian I now have another dish to add to my menu. For the meat eaters I prepared souvlaki as well. I made a Greek salad and along with the falafel (and souvlaki) stuffed it all into a pita. It was very, very good! I've made it tonight again so I'd better get in there before it's all eaten.

This tasted GREAT.. I noticed that there were no tomatoes in the recipe, but they were in the picture, and I do remember tomatoes being in a falafel, i have to pop that in next time. But other than that, it was perfect. Great recipe!

i really liked the falafel - the only changes i made were i didn't add the ground coriander (didn't have any) and i baked it instead of fried it - but i didn't really care for the cucumber sauce.

I made this recipe exactly as written, except I baked them for about 30 min instead of frying them. They had great flavor and great texture. The cucumber sauce was okay, but it was a nice compliment with the falafel.

I love falafel and this is a great recipe. My husband, who is usually not a fan of my vegetarian recipes, likes this also. Easy and I usually have the ingredients on hand. Have made 2 times and fried both times with no problems, but next time will bake to see how it goes.
