This was very good! I just added a little bit of olive oil to parsely & onions in my food processor because I couldn't get a smooth consistency. Evrything tasted great and my 3 1/2 year old loved them! I served with pita bread and avocado. I skipped the mayo in sauce, and it was still yummy.

These were awesome! I'd never had falafel before, but I've been looking for high-protein, high-fiber snacks to make and anything with chickpeas seemed like a good idea so I gave these a try. I didn't make the cucumber sauce because of food allergies, but the falafels themselves were fanastic. I had to add closer to 2 cups of breadcrumbs and I found that cooking them over medium heat worked better than medium-high.

This is yummy, and a good base recipe, but the falafel itself is pretty bland. After trying it as printed, I now double or triple the cumin, add a pinch of salt, and an extra pinch of cayenne. This seems to do the trick.

This was great! I did not have coriander, but it still came out great. I did make some changes though after talking to the falafel guy in my neighborhood and looking at another recipe online. I soaked an entire bag of chick peas overnight. I measured about a can's worth of beans using an empty can and cooked them for 1 hour before I mashed them. I didn't have coriander, so I did not use it. Also - I used italian seasoned bread crumbs because that is what I had. I eyeballed the (dried)parsley since I did not have fresh. I made balls instead of patties and baked them and had about 14. I know of a place that sells them really cheap downtown, and usually get one when I'm in that area, but it's nice to know how to make it yourself.

This is a GREAT recipe for falafel! I followed the recipe to a T and it came out delicious! I think I made my patties a little too big though cause I only ended up with 6 and they fell apart a little while frying, but it didn't affect the flavor. Next time I'll make them a little smaller. I served them in pita halves with lettuce, cucumber and tomato slices, feta and tzatziki. Due to some of the not so great reviews of the 'cucumber sauce' I skipped it and made AR's Tzatziki Sauce I which went perfectly. I've been trying to make at least 3 meat-less meals a week lately and this one's definately going to be a regular! Cheap, easy and delicious, what more could you want?

Sooo good! I'd never made falafel's before, but I wanted to make something different for a "girls night" and decided to go vegetarian. I was really happy with how they turned out (I baked them instead of frying), and the girls were also impressed! I'll definitely make these again.

The falafel was great, and I've used the recipe several times to great success. The tzatziki wasn't as good, though. It lacks an acid bite, and doesn't call for garlic. I prefer Ina Garten's recipe instead, using thick Greek yogourt.

AMAZING!!! I brought this to school (I'm a grad student) the next day for people to try the left overs... I have passed the recipe around to several people now!!! My only addition would be to use an extra 1/2 cup of bread crumbs to thicken it up. Even though I added enough for it to stick together and not be stick, it was still not enough to hold them together... STILL AMAZING!

Sean - thank you!! I have always been a fan of falafel, but I had no idea how it was supposed to taste. Wow - moist, lemony, herby, fresh, crispy... It is completely different from what I have known as falafel. Of course now that I know what I'm missing, I will always have to have homemade!

Making this, I really thought it was going to be way too much onion, but I wanted to give the recipe a chance and I'm glad I did. I might bump the seasoning up a notch for the next go-round, but this was delish! My mother thought I was crazy serving falafel, which she had never had and only heard of. She asked for seconds and suggested I serve it more often. The sauce really made it great. The recipe is right that too much bread crumb can make the finished product too dry. Be careful.

I love this recipe because it turns out delicious every time. The falafel is very flavorful. I only change the yogurt sauce to have chopped mint instead of dill, a clove of garlic, and no mayo.

Turned out very nice. Great for meatless meals during Lent. Doubled the recipe and it seemed to keep well in the fridge for a few days.

I didn't realize how easy falafels were to make. My husband and I really liked this recipe. I didn't even bother to get the food processor out. Just chopped the ingredients in small pieces and mixed with the beans. I grated the peeled, seeded cucumber and squeezed some of the water out. I drained the plain yogurt for about an hour and I think the sauce was a little thick. Next time I will use as is.

Not sure if I had enough liquid in the crumbs/mixture and the batter seemed to come apart slightly while I was frying the patties... but regardless of that - these were so tasty! Thanks for shaaring!

Wow! Definitely restaurant quality! This was really great...I was having a falafel craving and I decided to make these. I took the canned garbanzos and took two sandwich bags to put on my hands and smushed the beans between my fingers. I thought that this technique made the texture interesting. Followed the seasoning amounts to a T and used about 2 T more olive oil than called for. Used 3/4 cup of breadcrumbs to get the right moldable consistency. The other 1/4 cup I spread on a plate to hold the patties and "kebab" shapes I made. Then I lightly rolled or flipped so the outside had a crumb coating as well. This made for a great uniform crust after frying. Next time I will definitely try making the cucumber sauce and try to broil the patties (so I can enjoy them more often!). Thanks so much for sharing!
