Like most have said, I added the liquid to the egg to make just one cup of fluid used. I used orange juice instead of milk, added a half teaspoon of lemon zest, and crumbled brown sugar on top. They were absolutely incredible!

these scones are delicious! I added some lemon juice and vanilla to the egg/milk mixture, and then added that to the flour mixture until the dough was moist. I rolled it out, cut it into smaller pieces than what this recipe called for--about half the size. Then I let them sit in my refrigerator for the night, and cooked them the next day. While still warm, I topped them with Lemon Icing. They were so delicious! Will make again!

Great Recipe! Super easy and all the ingredients are cupboard staples. Turned out delicious. Slightly crisp on the outside, fluffy like an American biscuit in the inside. I made these and used unsalted butter and used about a full teaspoon of salt (instead of 1/2tsp) to compensate. I also folded in some canned blueberries (an American thing) right after the egg and milk but didn't mix too well for fear of them ending up tough. I cut them into smaller servings and got about 16-18 out of the batch. Each being about 2in sq. I also sprinkled them with a bit of granulated sugar before baking. They were a huge hit at the party. They turned out great. Not too sweet or salty and just the right amount of moisture in them that they could be eaten without the clotted cream.. by why would you not want the clotted cream?! I am planning on making them again but this time going for a savory scone adding shredded sharp cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon instead of the blueberries. Thanks so much for posting this! It is going in my personal recipe book. Love it!

Great and SIMPLE recipe. I did go by the suggestions and did not add all of the milk/egg mixture. I did add cranberries, orange zest and 1/2 milk 1/2 oj. The scones were moist and delicious with an orange glaze drizzled over the top. I'm going to make ginger scones the next time and eventually try many of the flavor suggestions from fellow raters.

Made these for a "Royal Wedding Tea Party" the night before. They were great when hot, but a bit dry when they cooled. Served with clotted cream and raspberry preserves which spiced up the flavor, but by themselves, they were quite bland.
