These are really good, but I have to admit that they do have a bit of an after taste.

These scones tasted alright, but there's absolutely no possible way you can knead them like how the recipe suggests! The dough is much too sticky for that, and when I added all of the three cups of flour to mine, the mixture got almost rubber-like and even more impossible to work with. I ended up dropping them on cookie sheets (which wasn't easy, either) with blueberries in them. Many people mistook them for chocolate chip cookies by their appearance. This was my first and last time trying to make scones.

I had to reduce the milk content coz it makes the dough too moist/soft. Otherwise, it's really easy to make & quite delicious. Try adding some sultanas and nuts for varieties.

Oh my goodness, this is the best recipe! My little girls and I just finished making and eating these and we just loved them. Quick, easy and no weird ingredients that you have to run to the market to get. We made the chocolate chip/sour cream variation suggested by another reviewer and it was truly great. I will be proud to take these to our potluck brunch!! Thank you so much for this great recipe!

these scones are fantastic, i made them plain, using sugestions such as less milk and the were perfect. i come from an english family, live in australia, where we LOVE our scones and these are great, very traditional.

This is my first time baking scones and they were awesome. Although I read the suggestions in some of the reviews, I decided to stick to the recipe the first time. I'm glad I did. I had no problem with sticky dough after kneeding it on a floured board. I did sprinkle some sugar on top before baking just for presentation. I served them with butter and honey, but they were so good we ended up eating them plain.

I followed a few other reviewer's suggestions. I decreased the butter to 1 stick/ or 1/2 cup and added 1/4 cup of apple butter. I upped the sugar from 1/2 to 3/4 cup;I used 1/2 white sugar & 1/2 brown sugar. I added 1 tsp. cream of tartar, 1 tsp cardamom, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. nutmeg, 1/4 tsp cloves. They went perfectly with blackberry & strawberry preserves. Will definitely make again!

These are delicious! I usually make them with cinnamon chips and everyone loves them. I have also made them with Splenda when I was watching my calories and they still tasted great!

This is a great recipe. I substituted brown sugar for the white sugar, and added chopped walunts and a little maple syrup and they turned out excellent. I made drop scones instead of kneading the dough since it was very sticky. It made 14 very large scones. I baked them for about 17 minutes and added a glaze of milk, powdered sugar and maple syrup. Yummy!

I put 2 T of homemade candied orange peel. Rather than egg, I brushed the top with lots of butter and then sprinkled with sugar and some candied orange peel. Less handling is best, don't overwork the dough.

Madly in love with this recipe. It's very flexible -- Even though I halved the recipe and reduced the butter and sugar content, it still came out marvelous. As someone had suggested, I grated the butter into the flour and then just hand kneaded it a bit. To add flavor, i threw it chocolate chips and flour dusted banana chunks. Baked in my oven for 20 minutes to make the outside a bit more crisp. Scrumptious! Thank you!

I'm only giving this recipe a 4 because of texture during prep. It's WAYYY too sticky and it was only remedied by adding over a cup of flour. However, the taste is SUPERB. I added 1 teaspoon cardamom, 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1/4tsp cloves, plus upped the sugar to 3/4cup. Wondeful wonderful taste, especially with strawberry preserves smeared on top!

These never fail! I usually make them plain and serve with butter and jam, but I threw in 1 Tbs orange zest and some cranberries into a batch for Christmas Eve brunch today. Topped them with an orange juice/powdered sugar icing and they are delicious.
