These are tasty, but not scones in MY opinion. I'm pretty picky about mine, I like them a little drier and denser. My first thought when I bit into these was "biscuit." They even had that strange Bisquick-y taste. BUT they still taste okay. I'll enjoy them, just keep looking for another scone recipe...

These are more like biscuits! Not scones.

These are delicious light and fluffy scones. I am still looking for a more traditional scone recipe, but these were very quick and easy. I spent about 45 minutes on them all in all. After baking I sprinkled a little mix of powdered sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon on the top for a little extra sweetness. YUM!

Nice, but not scones as I know them. They were very soft. I'm used to dryer crunchier scones. Still, we loved them. I substituted whole wheat flour for half of the flour in the recipe. They were great with jam.

Came out quite well! I used an egg substitute 'cause I'm lazy and was out of eggs, and it worked perfectly. The bottoms burned a little, so maybe next time I'd turn the heat down a touch.

Very simple recipe. I cut the butter down to 1/2 c. and froze it first then grated it into the flour mixture. It's easier to work with that way. I used 3 tsp. of baking powder, 1 tsp. of baking soda, and 1 tsp. of cream of tartar. I also used half and half instead of milk. I did half plain and half with raisins.

This was a soft, buttery and fluffy biscuit. While very good in its own right, I would definitely not call it a scone. Scones are drier and saltier. Also, this makes 8 huge scone shaped biscuits.

Tasted good and was really easy to make. I was looking for a recipe on a spontaneous decision to make scones and this was pretty easy to make and only called for ingredients that I had on hand. The only thing is it didn't really taste like scones as I am used to them...

looking for a SCONE recipe not a biscuit recipe... i guess i should not have chosen the recipe with LESS ratings. NOT my style to do so, but i was looking for a scone recipe with ingredients on hand...BAD mistake. im making a diffrent recipe next time. though this does make for a nice fluffy BISCUIT thats for sure. just not tooo scone like.. i hope this helps anyone looking for a REAL scone recipe. DON'T cut corners with ingredients on HAND, look up the highest rated recipe here...im positive its better..

i just made these and yes they are my first scones to make but these were delicious. they had a light texture and made 12 very reasonably/large sized scones. i did adjust the recipe a bit--i used heavy whipping cream and skim milk (a mixture of both). i also cracked the egg first (in the measuring cup) then filled up the rest with the milk mixture. i don't know if i used exactly one cup because i more eyed the mixture until it was right. . i added fresh blueberries but the scone was not a sweet scone, even with the blueberries so i want to add a lemon icing which would work well with the blueberries. of course feel free to use butter, jam, honey or the classic clotted cream! these were great! thanks so much. (if you're in the south watch the wet ingredients because you probably wont use as much due to the humidity (i didn't))

The texture of these scones is good, but there are better tasting scone recipes on this site. I found the recipe yielded 8 very large scones or 12 reasonable size scones.

This recipe was great. My family told me the scones "were better than store bought". I add lemon juice to the dough, a few slices of fresh strawberries, and spinkled cinnamon sugar both before and after baking. Really turned out excellent.

I woke up looking for a quick and easy scone recipe for my homemade blueberry jam and this was it! Very tasty as is- however next time I'll probably throw in a little cinnamon as some others suggested if I eat them plain.

I used skim milk and cut out 2 tbsps of butter per batch. I also added chocolate chips to 1 batch and dried cranberries to the 2nd batch and they were delicious, especially the cranberry ones! I ended up with 24 large scones- they expand quite a bit during baking so be sure to space them out on the tray (I had to bake them for a few extra minutes due to the size but they didn't burn and came right off of the tray) Tasty and easy recipe with ingredients already in your kitchen!

They are very tasty! Im only giving 4 stars because my first batch burnt on the bottom! Next time I turned down a bit and about 13 min. I added orange zest, dried cranberries and appricots! Very yummy!

This is a superb recipe! My husband and I have made it a number of different ways and it always turns out terrific and receives rave reviews. We like the following combinations: 1) orange zest, orange juice, and craisins 2) lemon zest, lemon juice, and craisins 3) walnuts, cinnamon, and brown sugar 4)raisins and cinnamon. Thanks for the recipe!
