I wanted to try a different scalloped potato recipe to go along with our Easter ham. This recipe was just the ticket! With a vegetarian in the family, I substituted cream of mushroom soup for the cream of chicken - that was quite good, but I think the cream of chicken would make it more flavorable. I also added a couple shakes of garlic powder. AND, though I'd like to try it in the slow cooker someday, I did it in the oven (350F for 45 minutes), and it was GREAT!
