Very tasty and filling. I made it with cheddar cheese and small precooked shell macaroni instead of the potatoes. I cut the baking time in half. It was really good.

My husband and I had four friends over for dinner last weekend, and because everyone said not to make anything fancy, I decided to serve this. Instead of hotdogs, I used lots of sliced kielbasa and I tripled the recipe (so people could have leftovers, if they wanted.) I used sharp cheddar cheese, since a couple of people don't like Swiss. I served it with steamed broccoli, salad and garlic toast...everyone raved over it! There was none leftover, and I will be making this again.

Like another reviewer, I used the twin pack of Ekrich skinless smoked sausage. I also used cheddar cheese as that's what I had on hand. I like to add a tsp. or two of Dijon mustard to the cheese sauce. As I was assembling the casserole, my 6-year-old daughter watched me intently. Thinking she wanted to learn how to cook, I explained the recipe to her step by step. She said, "That's okay, I just wanted to ask you if you were going to make me eat that." I guess don't let them see you add the onions. This is delicious! It really does reheat well in the microwave, too. I'm making this again now, this time with a Mexican blend of cheeses (Queso Quesadilla, Asadero, Queso Gallego, Manchego, and Anejo Enchilado.)I've tasted the cheese sauce and it's amazing. I'm going to use smoked turkey sausage today. I used skim milk both times and the cheese sauce turned out fine. I also plan to sprinkle some garlic powder/parsley on top. I might even sprinkle some paprika on top for extra color. I do plan to try this again soon with some fresh rosemary I have growing.

Wonderful. I used 6 potatoes instead of 5 and 2 1/4 cup of milk so it wouldnt be dry. Also, I added some dill and cumin powder and it was wonderful! Going to try this recipe with ham next time.

Good, but a little bland. But, it would definitely be a kid pleaser! We used grilled hot dogs to give it a little more flavor, but it was still just okay.

This was really good. I used heavy cream in place of milk, (next time I will use half and half)cheddar cheese instead of Swiss and beef smoked sausage instead of hot dogs. Great recipe and really versatile. You can mix it up to suit your tastes easily.

I made this recipe using veggie dogs. Not sure if it was the veggie dogs or the recipe itself, but it definitely needed more seasoning. Otherwise it was a nice change from franks and beans.

These were excellent. I didn't have swiss cheese, so I used mozzarella. I didn't have fresh parsley so I used 2 tsps of flaked. Even with these changes..they were a hit.

This was very good and really easy. My husband, preschooler and toddler loved it! I used ham chunks instead of "franks" and I used cheddar instead of swiss. Everything I did exactly as stated and it turned out perfect!

Really good comfort food. I used skim milk, light margarine, half the cheese and turkey dogs and it came out fabulous. My 3 year old went nuts for it.

This was amazing. My mother always made scalloped potatoes for me with hot dogs when I was younger. I am new to cooking and am always experimenting with new recipes. The other night I needed to use up some potatoes and found this recipe. It was a big hit with my boyfriend and I absolutely loved it. I will make again and again. It was so simple and after 1 1/2 hours the potatoes were cooked fully and perfect. The only thing I am going to change next time is to omit the salt. The hot dogs are salty enough with adding more. I also added a bit more cheese to the sauce and melted some over top when it was done. I also used cheddar cheese instead of swiss, only because I don't like swiss and I like the flavor the cheddar gives. Excellent recipe! Thanks again!
