The fact that many calories saved and still good is worth 4 out of 5

I can't believe how good these were without any cream or canned soups. I followed the recipe except that I had no mayo so I substitued 2 T of butter, and added some cheese and garlic. I would have give it a 5 except that I thought it had too many onions and would have been bland without some punch. Next time, more spice, less onions. I never would have thought Au Gratin could mean low fat!

Delicious! My husband who usually does not like potatoes cooked in a casserole LOVED them. I did add 2cloves of minced garlic with the onion and a pinch of fresh ground nutmeg to the sauce. It was a hit at our Easter dinner. Will make again

Amazing! I omitted the onion and subbed Earth Balance for the butter to meet our family's needs, but WOW! I'm so happy with recipe! I can't believe I found a non-dairy / non-cream of anything scalloped potato recipe that tastes ths great. Thank you, Dorothy Bateman. :-)

Loved this recipe!!! I always have a hard time making scalloped potatoes that have a good flavor...NOT any more. I skipped the salt and added 1/2 tsp cajun seasoning. They turned out nice and creamy and full of flavor. Thanks for a great recipe!!!

Great scalloped potatoes and unique recipe. They need more spices though... I suggest adding a nice italian mix.

It's just two of us so I scaled it down, off the cuff, for us. I just took the excellent base ingredients, made my roux, added a slightly weakened bouillon because I had bo broth on hand, kept the 2 T. mayonnaise for the tang and flavor, omitted added salt and found it brilliantly delicious! I just love it when I come across a recipe like Dorothy's and it makes me look really good. Thank you Dorothy, it's was just lovely! It's a five star recipe but I don't believe in giving all 5 if you alter it. I will make this again and again, next time, with proper ingredients and to the T.
