Savory Grilled Potatoes
SUBMITTED BY:
Darlene Brenden
"'These potato packets are so easy to prepare ahead of time, then pack in the cooler for camping trips or picnics and toss on the grill when needed,' notes Darlene Brenden of Salem, Oregon. 'The mayonnaise, seasonings and cheese really coat the potatoes and turn them into something special.'"

Very good. I increased the amount of potatoes after reading some people thought they were too wet. When I make it again, I will stick to the recipe. The "sauce" in the recipe is what makes it, as well as the ease.

Very easy, made with ingredients in anyone's pantry! Hubby loved them! Made exactly as recipe stated, very tasty with a slight smoky flavor. One packet came out crispy, the other one didn't, but either way, tasted great! I used heavy duty foil and made sure seams were folded over several times and the packet puffs up like the old stovetop jiffy pop! Warning! Be careful when opening, hot steam comes rushing out! Also, if you do have a leak, hot butter can burn you, when moving it off grill. This was a fun idea, especially great for a campfire and easily done ahead of time. Tip: Scrub potatoes with a new scotch-brite type scrubby and even that job takes just seconds and potatoes come out much cleaner!

My husband and I enjoyed these very much. I followed the recipe but instead of using foil (which I always seem to lose the juices)I used a cookie sheet(greased with olive oil) with sides and sealed the top with foil. This had all potatoes single layer. Halfway thru (15 minutes) I flipped the potatoes, resealed and cooked for 15 more minutes, this made them crunchy. We really like garlic, so next time I will add more garlic.

Very good. I added Provence Herbs b/c I didn't have parsley. I wish I had sprayed the foil - the potatoes stuck to it on one side. Will make again.

Wonderful! The potatoes closest to the flame get a wonderful crunch to them so don't layer them too much in your foil wrap.

You have no idea! I hate mayonaise,(I can't stand the sight, taste or smell) and I have no idea what came over me when I decided to just try to make this..but I did, and I just can't believe it , you cannot taste mayonaise at all. My mom is even worse about mayo, (she will seriously get ill at the sight...probably where i got it from) and I decided to make them for my parents without telling her about the mayo and she loved it. Hated me for a couple hours after I broke down and told her but she got over it! Suprisingly wonderful recipe, thank you for helping me broaden my horizons!

Made these last night with some BBQ chicken legs on the grill. I've never grilled potatoes before so this was an adventure! I followed the recipe exactly and the seasoning smelled so good when I was tossing the potatoes and onions in it. Its hard to judge the cooking time on the grill, I wanted to be sure mine were tender so I think I over cooked a bit because they were pretty soft. Some of them, the ones on the bottom layer of the foil and closest to the flame, were really crispy though, and those were delicious - I wish more came out like that. Overall, a fun side dish to make on the grill! Thanks for sharing.

had friends over for dinner and these were a HUGE hit!! I used a bit more mayo b/c I had 6 potatoes and also drizzled a little olive oil over mayo mixture. Microwaved potatoes for about 4 minutes, let cool then sliced. sprinkled in about 2 tsp of ADOBO seasoning and used a bit more garlic....I really greased the foil and they came out really crispy and flavorful! can't wait till the next BBQ!

You must double the cheese and spice to make these taste good. Also, you must have the heavy duty foil or you will just burn the potatoes. But they are good even if they are crunchy.
