  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat; cook and stir onion until tender, about 4 minutes. Add apples, vinegar, salt, and pepper; cover skillet and cook until apples are tender, about 3 minutes. Add kale; cover and cook until kale is tender, 4 to 5 minutes.

The combination of the ingredients made for a delicious meal. I did add smoked sausage to bulk up this dish and it really complemented the dinner, I served it over rice. Yummy!

When it was almost finished cooking I tasted it and thought it needed something to boost the flavor, so I added 2 tsp of honey and 1/4 cup of chicken stock and simmered a little longer. Loved it! Excellent with Pork Chops.

Taste-wise, its fantastic. I'm not a big fan of the texture of cooked greens, so I struggle with eating even the tastiest of cooked greens. While I didn't care for the texture of this recipe, either, the apple texture really helped a lot and made it more palatable for me.

This is a simple recipe with on-hand ingredients. I used a 10oz bag of chopped kale from Trader Joes. Seemed like more than 4 cups but it cooked down nicely. The apples add a nice subtle sweetness and the cooking softened the kale and removed the bitterness. I'm confident my family will eat this but may not rave if served solo. I wanted to add something - I did add some more cider vinegar and probably 1 tsp of honey. I sliced up 1/2 an apple-chicken sausage with it for breakfast and it was very satisfying. So, overall it would make a great side dish, or as a main dish with the addition of sausage.

my husband and i love this recipe! we typically add a little bit more vinegar, but other than that it's great!

Turned out most excellent. Added some micro mustard greens 'cause I had 'em. Massaged the kale with salt per suggestion. Perfect!

Excellent! I used baby kale so it was more of a spinach consistency, a honeycrisp apple (because I don't care for red delicious), and added a bit of crumbled bacon (because..well.....bacon!!!. Will definitely make again!
