Yum! Was looking for something a little sweet after dinner one fall evening, and this was it! Had all the ingredients on hand. Cut the recipe in half to make 4 servings... the servings size is kind of small... it is so good, it was more like 2 servings :)

Would by no means consider myself handy in the kitchen but this recipe was so easy to make! I followed it exactly as written and it turned out great! My family requested I make it again soon!

YUM!!! The best thing about Allrecipes is that you can adapt a recipe for the number of servings. I had bought apples to bake an apple pie and ended up with one leftover apple. I was trying to figure out what to do with just one apple when I happened upon this recipe (I was looking for a recipe for a friend and this one came up on the first page that opened) - I'm so glad I found it. I adapted the recipe for two servings (which used the one apple I had) and it turned out great! I read the other reviews before making it and since I LOVE vanilla flavor, I added a splash of vanilla extract - fabulous!!! The only bad thing I can say is that I burnt my tongue because I wasn't willing to let the apples cool enough before eating them - they're THAT good!

I made this to go with pork chops instead of the usual applesauce. My husband loved it. I recomment using tart apples, otherwise it would be too sweet. I would also add just a pinch of salt. I will be making this again.

Suggest adding a very small pinch of salt. Brings out the sweetness in the apples.

Best recipe I've found for fried apples. I did scale it down to 4 servings and I think even with the scaled down water I should have cut it down even more (instead of 1/4c maybe 2T) because mine still had a lot of liquid. I added a sprinkle of salt (which could have brought more juice out of the apples making mine liquidy) and pepper when I added the brown sugar. I've found a little salt brings out the sweetness a little more and black pepper just adds a little spice that goes well with fried apples. My family loved them.

I scaled this down to four servings for just hubby and I. I didn't change anything else. This would be great for breakfast or dinner, on ice cream or pancakes or as a dinner side dish as I did. Delicious.

We liked this over oatmeal. Next time I'd add less water and cook the apples covered over low heat for about 10 minutes after all the ingredients are added.

Delicious! Great as a side or would be wonderful over pancakes, waffles french toast etc. We had this as a side dish with a sausage, cheese and jalapeno quiche and it paired beautifully. Thanks for a great recipe!

We loved this recipe - I serve it with pork chops. I have made it several times. I just added a pinch of nutmeg, a dash of salt, 1/4 tsp vanilla. Next time I might cut the butter in half. So easy and delicious.

I wanted something to mix into oatmeal, so I cooked these a little longer and broke them up into smaller chunks in the saucepan. Didn't bother to peel the apples, and I followed other reviewers advice and added a dash of nutmeg and a splash of vanilla. Made for some very tasty oatmeal.
