Very good - even for leftovers. Definitely use tart, crisp apples. I made with the "BBQ Pork for Sandwiches" and box mac'n'cheese. Great southern meal.

Delicious. Almost like apple pie filling, but a little lighter with more syrup.

A very easy, quick & delicious side dish or topping for waffles, pancakes or ice cream. Granny Smith apples work well but Honey Crisps held up to cooking even better. It freezes well, too.

I tried to make this healthier by using only 1 T of butter and less sugar. Still very delicious and I will definitely make this again.

This was wonderful!!!!!! I have tried several recipes trying to duplicate Cracker Barrel's recipe and been unsuccessful; this was even better than theirs! I used Gala and Jonagold apples and they stayed just enough firm to cook to a perfect doneness.

These are great. They remind me of the apples from Cracker Barrell. I did add more cinnamon as I like the flavor.

I will be making this again and again. It was delicious. I used honeycrisp apples (my fav) and it turned out wonderfully. I forgot to add vanilla but have not missed it so far. I used 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup white sugar and also added a pinch of salt and about 1/4 tsp. of allspice, which rounded things out nicely. I'm definitely going to try these on pancakes, vanilla ice cream, and maybe even as a side dish at Thanksgiving! Thanks so much for sharing an amazing recipe.

These were really good. The apples came out perfectly cooked and were served with "Grandmother's Pork Chop Dinner" from this site. A great combo as the sweet balanced out the savory.

Possibly one of the most delicious thing ever. I used pumpkin pie spice in place of the cinnamon because I love the extra flavor. While cooking it smelled like autumn in a pan! Definitely will be making this again to eat over pancakes!

WOW, easy to make and the family loved it. Needed a quick side dish and this was perfect. Followed the recipe and added a dash of vanilla. I did not have tart apples and used Golden Delicious.

This was really good -- i made it to got in my oatmeal, and i wish i'd just skipped the oatmeal and gone with the apples straight. One thing: make sure you cut the apples thin enough, mine were thicker than 1/4 inch and took a lot longer to get tender.
