This is a recipe I have done off the top of my head and it works. Neat to see someone has written it down. I use a cast iron small skillet. I use up those apples that are going bad or getting soft-but no mealy. The mealy ones you show give to the animals outside. I recently had only red delicious and had been disappointed since I wanted to eat them fresh but they were not juicy. After they sat a round for a good while, I used them up. I had able 5 read and 1 golden. I added vinegar to the mix right away and proceeded just as this recipe says. I cooked them in the morning as I tidied the kitchen. Seriously takes little effort and makes the house smell good. Plus you cleaned up all of those rejected dry apples. My father-in-law said they were really good. Just add that vinegar to make them sour if you have sweet apples. And born sugar is the only way to go!

This is wonderful for pancakes. I used yellow skin apples for the soft texture. This recipe has enough sauce to cover 4 pancakes. I also make two beacon strips for the side to off-set the sweetness. This recipe makes a good and hearty breakfast. Definitely a keeper!

I really enjoyed this recepie. It was not too sweet and very easy. I used this for the ladies from my church at a Saturday brunch. It was a big hit. If you like your apples real sweet had more sugar. I also put a pinch of nutneg. I will use this again.

I've tried to make fried apples for my husband who grew up loving his aunts recipe...yet my prior attempts were not so great. I tried this recipe this morning, and my picky husband loved them! Next time Im going to try them for dessert with a little whipped topping...that seems like it would be just delicious.

I liked the flavor before the cornstarch was added. After adding the cornstarch it lost some of the wonderful flavor it had, so...I added some cranberries, rasins and lemon juice. Wow! This is a keeper. Next time I will cut back on the cornstarch.

I'm giving this 5 stars because that's what my kids think about this. I like it just fine, but they love it. I cook the apples until they are soft for my 16-month-old twins. I also add a bit of nutmeg. Good stuff.
