really good! i only had cream of celery and it was still pretty good
Having said that, I used pork/venison sausage instead of the sweet Italian it called for and I wish I hadn't. I think this dish needs the sweetness to offset the saltyness of the rest of the ingredients. I couldn't find Cream of Brocoli and settled for Cream of Brocoli and Cheese. I used a package of Wacky Mac instead of the spirals to bring more color to the dish. I did add a bit more milk (about 1/2 c.) because my broccoli (which was fresh, not frozen) just didn't have enough liquid to cook. Overall it wasn't that bad but I won't be making it again. Why? My 3 year old daughter only ate the sausage and the oldest, a 5 yr. old, tried it and wouldn't touch anymore (she's usually a good eater). My 1 year old ate the macaroni okay but it wasn't the ideal dish for a youngster with few teeth. It's worth trying if you have nothing else to cook and have the ingredients on hand. Maybe it was just a personal preference and your family will like it. But I won't be making it again. Always like to try new recipes, though, so thanks for the post!
This recipe was good, but not quite what I had expected. Perhaps it was because I didn't make it quite right. Instead of the straight cream of broccoli, I used broccoli and cheese, and I forgot to add the parmesan. I think that the broccoli and cheese, with its cheddar flavor, was too much contrast from the Italian sausage. Also, I think if I had used a more spicy and less sweet Italian sausage it would have had a better flavor as well.
This recipe is good for an easy meal after a long day at work and isn't bad for being a Campbell's one.
Very good and easy. Just cut sausage up into desired size before browning, then don't have to worry about breaking it up. Used 3 cloves garlic, added some pepper and need a little more milk to achieve a boil after adding broccoli, etc. but no biggie. Followed 99.9% to a "t" and it was a bit hit- asked to makes again.
Excellent! It pleased the whole family-big flavor, so easy! I did use fresh broccoli that I steamed in the microwave for 2 minutes before adding to the skillet. I used 4 cloves minced garlic. 4-1/2 cups cooked rotini is 2-1/4 cups uncooked. 1/2 cup uncooked rotini is equal to 1 cup cooked. I had to look this up, so in case anyone else is wondering- It ended up being a little more than half a 16 ounce box of rotini. This recipe was rated 5 stars by everyone tonight, will make this again soon!
soooo good! family loved it! i used whole wheat pasta, low fat soup, and sweet italian chicken sausage instead to cut down on the calories! and it was yummy! i am going to try it with peas next! thanks for this one! its sure to be a keeper!
We love this dish! When I don't have any cream of broccoli onhand I add Alfredo sauce and 1/2 cup of milk its amazing. My husband can't get enough.
We loved it! I used farfalla pasta and cream of chicken instead of the cream of broccoli. I also added mushrooms.
