This was a very good and simple dish. My husband enjoyed it. When I cooked the sausage, of course I had to add some garlic powder (or fresh garlic, your choice) and added the onions and mushrooms altogher, then drained. Also, some crushed red pepper flakes for a spicer taste!

This was absolutely fantastic! Really hit the spot. I halved the recipe because 8 would have been way too much food. I used Jimmy Dean Sage Sausage and omitted the mushrooms (only because I didn't have any on hand.) I'll add them next time. I also added 1 cup of broccoli to the top and broke them up when the rice was done. It adds a bit of health and color to the dish. It was very, very yummy. A new comfort food.

I, too, made this on the stovetop instead of the oven by cooking the rice with beef broth, browning the sausage, onions, and mushrooms and then adding everything together in the skillet. Along with the dried oregano, I used some fresh thyme and a few drops of hot pepper sauce, salt and freshly ground pepper. It was a fast to make recipe, easy, and I thought really good taste. I'm sure I'll make this again.

i followed the recipe exactly, but did it on the stove top, covered instead of in the oven. it came out great, the rice was nicely cooked and the sausage provided a bit of spice, and the oregano added nice flavor as well. my boyfriend loved it!

I followed the directions exactly, but after an hour of cooking, the rice was still hard. I cooked it for 2.5 hours, and still only some of the rice was soft, and the edges were burned. I will say that the flavors were wonderful, and I wish it had worked. I will try it again in the future, but I will cook the rice first and just heat everything together in the oven.

This was a good recipe. It might be a little plain for some, but it was still good.
