Sausage Pinwheels
SUBMITTED BY:
Gail Sykora
"These savory spirals are very simple to fix but look special on a buffet. Our guests eagerly help themselves--sometimes the eye-catching pinwheels never make it to their plates! - Gail Sykora, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin"

Yum! This was so easy. I made it for my Bible Study and they got devoured. I used Jimmy Dean Sage sausage. I nixed the chives and sprinkled onion powder and some shredded cheese over the meat before I rolled it. I stuck it in the fridge to firm up before I sliced it and baked for about 17-19 minutes. Everyone wanted the recipe. =)

I have been making pinwheels for years using this same concept. The only difference is that I use deli turkey or ham instead of sausage and I sprinkle with lots of cheddar cheese before rolling. They go great served with honey mustard or your favorite dipping sauce.

I loved this recipe. My children were not overly fond of it. It is a great breakfast to serve on the morning of a big trip. Prepare ahead of time and cook the night before. Serve with sliced fruit and juice. You can eat and hit the road. Or take it along to eat as you drive.

You can't beat this one for ease and edibility both! I used maple sausage links (casing removed) and made two rectangles instead of one for smaller, child-sized bites; made it easier to dip into maple syrup for a "Wow!" breakfast! (If you use two smaller rectangles, roll from a short side.) I can see where this recipe would easily adapt from breakfast to appetizers! Chorizo sausage, turkey sausage, taco meat...Can't wait to try more of them!

These were great. I think they made a great presentation on my table, and tasted great. This is something that I might like to take to work one morning for breakfast for my friends and coworkers.

These were good, but they weren't anything special. They looked pretty good on the plate though.

I made this recipe as is and it was great! But this morning to make this recipe a bit more interesting I first spead a layer of store bought pesto then the sausage and then a small amount of finely shredded mozerella cheese and WOW did they come out good! Great for an appetizer too!
