Wow! I know this is the best breakfast casserole I've ever made, and possibly the best I've tasted. I did not have onion on hand, so I used dried minced onion, and it worked wonderfully! Thank you so much for the recipe!

I made this for a baby shower brunch and it was successful. I followed the recipe exactly and was happy I did. I did make it the night before and cooked it in the morning - which worked out great! I'm definitely going to make this again. My hubby was upset there weren't more leftovers!

Delicious and easy to prepare. Used turkey sausage and tasted great. Next time I will try to crisp up the potatoes first.

My family loved this recipe. I followed the other reviews, and let the hash browns and butter "crust" bake for about 20 minutes while I was browning the sausage and preparing the filling. Turned out great!

Followed directions exactly and wouldn't change a thing! This was one of the best breakfast casseroles I've made, and I've made a lot. A food processor w/ a shredder attachment mades the job easier. I just pressed the potatoes with my hands to squeeze our moisture. The final product is fabulous.

This is a really great recipe. I have been making it for about 2 years now when I have guests. If you make it exactly as written it is a bit too much onion for my taste. I have been halving it a lot recently and it works perfect in a 9x9 square pan with 4 eggs and 8 oz cottage cheese, everything else halved. I also use powdered onion instead of shredded most times. Everyone asks for the recipe!

I keep coming back to this recipe, and every time I rate it, I lower it a star. I think that this is a decent recipe, but it is very, very bland and really lacking any WOW. If you are serving to small children or to the elderly it might be passable. It is fine for getting rid of some leftovers, but as the recipe currently is, I would not serve this to guests as is. It requires many changes and by the time the changes are made, it is a new recipe, not at all the same as the recipe here. When I made this recipe the first time, following the recipe exactly, I felt it was bland, it lacked any flavor and definitely needed major modifications. I added the onion and some green pepper to the sausage and cooked them together. I ended up adding a can of well- drained diced tomatoes to the sausage as well. I only had large eggs, not jumbo, so I used nine large eggs. I added a bit of onion powder and a clove of crushed garlic to the egg mixture, as well as a bit of black pepper. I felt it needed a bit of extra flavor. I also used sharp cheddar cheese ... shredded myself, never from the package. I used half of the cottage cheese the recipe stated, combining the other half with sour cream. I used store bought shredded potatoes, but added some salt and pepper to the potatoes as well. I assembled the entire casserole the night before and baked in the morning. It takes longer to bake than the recipe calls for. In my convection oven it took about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Even

My husband and I have been searching for a good breakfast casserole recipe and this one is it!! It was DELICIOUS!! I followed the recipe exactly except that I used 1/2 cheddar cheese and 1/2 mozarella cheese and added a few dashes of onion powder. Also, I recommmend watching the casserole closely when baking it because it only took about 35-40 minutes to cook in our oven. We will make this again!!

I am still cooking this recipe but it smells and looks soooo good. The shredding was tiresome but I bet the fresh ingredients are worth it. I will prepare a little ahead next time but this was a supper in a pinch on a Friday night. I followed the recipe exactly!

very good! used fresh shredded store bought hash browns for the crust and found that prebaking these is not necessary. They sort of started to burn around the edges toward the end of the hour of baking the casserole. Increased the egg to 8 as mine were just large. Came out very nice and was tasty. will certainly make again.

This was yummy, I think the cottage cheese makes the whole recipe. I used frozen shredded potatoes, fried them in a pan for a little while then put them in the pan. I forgot to add the butter, but I didn't miss it. I might try tater tots in place of potato next time.

Delicious! Excellent, although I changed things a bit. I don't like sausage so I used bacon and didn't have cottage cheese so I used some sour cream. Used frozen shredded potatoes and fried them for awhile before adding to the butter and allowed it to bake a little while in the oven. This made for a crunchier crust. Mixed onions in with the potato layer and added them and diced chilis in the potatoe mixture. Used a cheddar/monterey mix. Served with sour cream and salsa; wonderful! Hubby and I almost ate the whole dish but we decided to save some today for breakfast. Will definitely make again!

Wow this is so good! I used tator tots instead of shredded potatoes, and I used 1/2 cup of milk, and a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. I didn't have sage flavored sausage but it tasted great with regular. Also, I left out the onion and used onion powder instead. I will be making this again and again.

We loved this breakfast casserole!! I was not so sure about the cottage cheese and almost did not make this dish because myself and other members in the family dislike cottage cheese. But I have to say I am glad I overlooked it! This is delicious and you couldnt even taste the CC just the cheddar!! I am sooo glad I made it! And this dish will be an occasional Sunday morning favorite in my house!!
