My whole family loves this casserole. I made a large one and froze some, when I unthawed it I added 1/2 cup uncooked rice because it looked a bit watery, baked it with cheese on top and it came out beautifully, kind of like lasagne. Will make this again for sure, thank you for the recipe!!!

Even my very picky son liked this. I do agree with other posts, add the can of diced tomatoes and some extra cabbage. I added 1/2 cup beef stock only because I had some in my fridge to use. It was a good consistency.

This recipe is so far beyond simple! Even my Grandma wants to try it as an alternative to her original stuffed cabbage recipe! The one thing I make sure to do is stir it halfway during cooking so the edges stay moist. LOVE THIS RECIPE!!!

I made this for a pot luck and it went over very well. I used 1 c raw long grain rice. Browned it a bit after removing sausage from frying pan. I used a 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes and 1/2 c water. Cooked in slow cooker on high for 4 hrs. Still found it a dry so I added 3/4 of a 28 oz can of diced tomatoes. At this point I felt it now needed more spices so I added again the amount for worchesteshire sauce, bronw sugar and a dash of lemon juice.

I have made this recipe twice now and I really enjoy it. Like others, I added more tomato sauce (actually I used 2 cans of diced tomatoes in sauce) and I actually just did mine on the top of the stove in a dutch oven and it worked perfectly and tasted delicious! I also used cajun seasoning in place of salt because we like a little kick in ours! This is definitely a recipe I have saved in my recipe box! :)

This is so freaking delicious! I use either chicken sausage and brown rice to keep it a little healthier. I add double the amount of tomatoes (usually crushed tomatoes with basil and garlic) but that is it! I've realized that if you add the cabbage when you are at the end of sauteeing the sausage you won't have to cook in the oven as long- just a tip if you are in a rush! Love love love this recipe!

The only thing this should get 5 stars for is for being easy and using ingredients you probably have on hand, but otherwise it was pretty bland.

yummy! I used Sage breakfast sausage. Also added garlic, green pepper, and can of diced tomatoes(undrained). cooked in large corning ware with glass lid on - that lets the cabbage get sort of steamed and tender. only needed to cook 40 minutes

This was GREAT! Used mild Italian Sausage, pre-cooked (leftover) rice, red lentils, and a red pepper instead of green since that's what I had. Only took about 10 minutes of simmering since the rice was precooked and the lentils were red. 20 minutes start to finish! My 1 yr old, 4 yr old and husband gobbled it up!
