OMG - this was awesome! I followed the recipe as written and added a few more spices of my own - garlic salt, smoky paprika, liquid smoke and some cajun seasoning. My intentions were to make BBQ (sauce)sandwiches, but the meat was so tender, juicy and tasty that we ended up eating the meat by itself! It would have been a shame to cover up the taste with sauce! After 8 hours of cooking, the meat was tender enough to eat, but we had a baseball game and nobody wanted to eat before we left. So I kept it cooking for another 4 hours and that made a huge difference - I couldn't even pick it up - the meat fell right off the bones. I will definitely make this again. I might even try adding sauce some time - but maybe not!

I have never made pulled pork sandwiches before, and I tried this recipe for the Super Bowl! Everyone raved at how good it was! The next pot luck we have at work, I am going to bring this!

I'm from Memphis and we are picky about our BBQ. I was skeptical about this as it is so easy, but I made it for a large group of Memphis savvy BBQ lovers and they all loved it. No, it is not AS GOOD as BBQ slow cooked in a pit, but that is not really an option for most of us to do at home. This is the best alternative I have ever tried and almost everyone at the party wanted the recipe. I did it as written. Did not have liquid smoke but will use that next time to get a little of that smoky flavor. Even if you are a "cook" like me, don't turn your nose up at this thinking it is too easy to be good. It is delicious and worth 5 stars considering easy of preparation to finished product. The perfect crowd pleasing food!

I have been using this recipe for a few years now and love the versatility! The tender pork is delicious when done and can be eaten as is or dressed with ANY sauce. I have made a green verde pork, carnitas, bbq, sweet terriyaki, and even used just a plain brown gravy and added mashed potatoes. I love that you can't go wrong!!! 10-12 hours in slow cooker yeilds same results and creates a heartwarming aroma throughout the kitchen and home! Always a favorite at potluck and bypasses chili during superbowl parties. Thanks Sarge!

I was looking for a recipe for slow-cooked pork that didn't use a lot of ingredients. This was so good. The broth and coffee add depth to the flavor of the pork; but don't over-power it. Ate it on tortillas first night. I'm freezing the rest and sevring it later as bbq pork. Will definately make often.

This is so good and easy. I made this for a potluck at work and everybody loved it. It's a really inexpensive way to feed a group. I mixed this with Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce recipe from this site and some buns to make sandwiches. So so good.

OK, we all know that "real" BBQ is cooked low & slow over hot coals. Fine; but if you don't happen to have a BBQ pit, this recipe will give you a very tender & juicy product. Choose a tangy BBQ sauce & serve with a crunchy cole slaw w/ finely chopped Vidalia onion. Thank you "Sarge" - you rock!

Wow! We had pulled-pork sandwiches at friends' house a while back, and I asked for the recipe. The one I received had a list of 20 or so ingredients, so I went in seach of something easier. Sarge, thank you SO much! My family loved this recipe, and it couldn't have been easier to fix. Like someone suggested, I added a splash of liquid smoke, and it added another great flavor to the dish. I have a love/hate relationship with my crock pot, but this recipe was put in the "love" pile! :o)
