Awesome side dish! I used whole wheat orzo and one tablespoon of butter. The garlic was a little strong, which is fine for me, but may not be for others. I also added 3 oz of fresh spinach at the end of cooking - stir it in and it wilts on its own.

We LOVED this dish in our house! I made it exactly as written, except I added some sliced sautéed mushrooms because I needed to use them up. I love the texture of the orzo-rice mix and it has a nice nutty flavor from toasting the pasta. It's so easy, quick and versatile, you could add all kinds of veggies to it if desired. The cooking time for me was a little less than stated, about 16 or 17 minutes. I'm definitely adding this to my repertoire.

I thought this was okay. When I make white rice, I usually make Brazilian rice from this site which is basically cooked by the same method. I decided to try a different recipe. This badly needed salt when it was done. I added a little sea salt and that helped. The other recipe just seems to have more flavor. I will have to compare the difference. I did like the two different textures between the rice and pasta.

Just made to take for my dinner at work tonight and it is very good, didn't change a thing, followed recipe exactly, and I feel it has good flavor and doesn't need any more spices at all. Like that it is so simple and always have the ingredients in my pantry so I'm sure this will become one of my favorite last minute side dishes. Highly recommend, it is great for busy working moms.

Another 5*! Very delicious and easy! I even cut down on the butter and it still was perfect. I used Knorr chicken bouillon to make the broth which made it very flavorful. I live at a semi-high elevation so water proportions and time to cook will have to be worked on.

This recipe was really good and really easy - a new favorite at our house! I made it into a main dish by adding green beans, shredded chicken, and chopped almonds and pecans.

Have been looking for this little more healthier version of Rice o Roni. My family absolutely gobbled it up like no tomorrow. I did use brown rice instead of white. Also cooked the brown rice a little before hand to give it a head start (as it takes a bit longer to cook then white). It was amazing and this will be my go-to rice recipe from now on! Thank you for sharing.

OMG.. who knew? I had no idea you could make this from scratch and I LOVED IT! Was even surprised when I took the cover off that it looks exactly like Rice Pilaf! LOL I pretty much followed the directions exactly, I used 2 cups of hot water with 3 bullion cubes and I added about 1/2 tea of sea salt since others suggested it needed it. It was Great. The only thing I need to do differently next time is use onion powder instead of the onions and that's only because the kids noticed the onions in it and freaked out and barely ate it after that. So going forward I will just use the powder. I will NEVER buy Rice Pilaf again. This was super easy to make and tasted great! THANKS!
