This applesauce is so easy and delicious. I needed to use up some apples that a friend gave me. I used granny smith and found ¼ cup sugar to be just right. We ate it warm as a side dish with dinner and of course it tasted even better the next day when it was chilled. I will be making this regularly from now on.

I use this recipe when I bake my quickbreads (where I use a 1:1 ratio of oil and applesauce). I substitute Splenda (or generic) for the sugar. Sometimes I'll add an additional fruit (pears and plums are particular favorites). I don't add the cinnamon because some recipes just don't call for it (when a recipes does, I simply add it to the dry ingredients). I puree the resulting product in my blender. My breads come out moist, light and very flavorful. My family loves them and they make great gifts.

Super simple, super easy. Making applesauce for the kids, so I left out the sugar completely for a healthier treat. Using a sweet variety of apple (instead of tart) completely eliminates the need for any sugar.

I used sweeter apples and will cut the sugar down next time. Everything else was perfect. I thought the color was dark so I'm not sure if I cooked them too long or what. The boiled for about 15 minutes. FYI: 4 apples yields 1C of applesauce.

This was awesome :) Yes, you don't need as much as sugar for a less sweeter taste :)

WOW! Now my boyfriend and I LOVE applesauce :D Thank you sooo much! We did lower the sugar a little bit because we don't like it too sugary and we did not put in cinnamon because we don't like it in applesauce. A great recipe, a keeper!

Very easy and yummy! I added more sugar since I like things sweet and my apples weren't too sweet to begin with.

My hubby, who rarely raves about a recipe, said this is the best applesauce ever... and he could eat applesauce with every meal! I used about 10 medium apples and doubled everything else. I also added the cinnamon - I didn't measure it out but definitely added more than the recipe called for because we like the cinnamon-apple taste. Thanks for the recipe!

Completely fast and easy, I made this in my crock-pot and added some powdered nutmeg and a touch of powdered cloves. Just the smell of it added togther with the cinnamon was delicious enough. Came out great. I had some left over juice in the crock pot though, so I just put it into a coffee mug and sipped on that, gotta love warm apple cider.

FAST & EASY! As I was preparing a ham and cabbage dinner, I decided to make this as a side dish. Within 20 minutes it was sitting on the table cooling down. I served it warm and it was DELICIOUS! Thank you PHATCAT for such a delicious recipe.

My daughter loves this applesauce. I filled a crockpot with apples and pears and let it cook for four hours. No mashing was needed. I used MUCH less sugar than the recipe called for and it was excellent!
