This is the second time I made this and it was COMPLETELY different! This time, I loved it. I used a pumpkin pie spice instead of straight cinnamon and it was AWESOME. It is good warm or cold and is like a delicious apple pie filling!

Excellent flavor! Consider blending/processing the mixture for a creamier texture.

Excellent! The only thing I did different was add a teaspoon of vanilla extract. My husband and kids love it!

it's super delicious, but anything that sweet usually tastes pretty super. I used 5 small McIntosh apples and it came out good, but waaaayyy too sweet. Next time I will halve the sugar. Also, at medium heat, the sauce kept boiling over with the lid on. Even when I put the lid on half-way, it still boiled over. I had to reduce the heat quite a bit for the last 7 minutes so when the 15 minutes were up, i turned off the stove but left the sauce to continue heating in the pot.

This was delicious! I cooked it in my slow cooker for 3-4 hours and used half white sugar and half brown sugar. Next time I'm going to double (or triple) the recipe because it was gone in 5 minutes!

I didn't know home made applesauce was so quick or so easy! I used Macintosh and empire apples and about half the sugar. Even so, next time I will leave out the sugar completely since macintosh/empire apples are so sweet on there own. Mine was just a bit more watery than I like, so I'll use let of that next time as well.

This was so easy to make and every flavorful. I first used my pastry blender then finished with my immersion blender. I was thinking after tasting it hot there was not enough cinnamon, but had some cold the next day...Perfect!

I made a double batch of this applesauce in my slow cooker and it was AMAZING. I set it to high for about 5 hours and just had to stir to get a nice smooth sauce. I'm about to make my 2nd batch to can for Christmas gifts!

Wonderful recipe! I followed the recipe pretty much - I used 4 decent sized Jonagold apples. I diced them, added slightly less sugar than required, a tad more cinnamon and same amount of water. At first I thought it was going to be too liquidy when stirring it after it started cooking, but it wasn't. The liquid "dried up" nicely. I have small kids and texture is a big thing so I put it in my Magic Bullet for a few pulses and it was just wonderful! 4 apples do cook down to not nearly enough sauce... I could easily polish off that bowl all by myself. I will definitely be making this again. Super yummy and fairly healthy as well. When I do make more, I will be using less sugar.

Absolutely Delish! I added a pinch of nutmeg, ginger and cardamom as well as the cinnamon, tastes just like Apple pie! I will never buy jarred applesauce again.

I don't like applesauce froma jar but I had apples that needed to be used before they went bad. It was so easy to make and so good! I had extra leftover that I didn't mash and I used it in a pie - it was so easy and delicious! Thanks Phatcat!

I'm reviewing this for a second time. My husband is on a diet and normally uses the little plastic cups of apple sauce. I made this one and instead of the stated amount of sugar, I put in one tablespoon of sugar and one teaspoon of honey to sweeten it. Just as good. Thank you.

I took a tip from America's Test Kitchen, which has a very similar recipe, and used Macoun apples--wonderful! Jonagold are also a type that are recommended. Throwing 2 whole cinnamon sticks in while cooking works great.
