Great - even w/o the cinnomon. Served it w/Costco pork chops wrapped in bacon and boxed potatoes au gratin. The applesauce was the hardest part of the meal! Thanks, Sarah :-)

WOW! Loved it! Had 4 apples sitting around and having pork chops for dinner. And in 20 mins after my chops were finished, voila, homemade applesauce! So refreshing, light, and easy!

Excellent applesauce, expect it was too sweet. Next time maybe no added sugar, or maybe just a tablespoon.

Very easy recipe! I cut the water that was called for in half, added more cinnamon (since I love it), & added aspartame instead of sugar, to create a sugar-free alternative & it turned out awesome! The consistency was wonderfully thick & the flavor reminded me of apple pie without the crust.

Great recipe! Thanks. I joined a produce co-op and sometimes we get a lot of apples. This week we got Granny Smith apples. We arent big fans of tart apples. I used them in this recipe and added an additional 1/4 cup of brown sugar and cooked it in the crock pot as others suggested. It was really good!

My husband loves applesauce of any kind...well not exactly... it was always something i could never remember when i got to the grocery store. Then I found this recipe and at the same time Costco had a dozen apples for some ridiculous price...Cameos, I think...so I bought them and came home and made a double batch, using the crock pot method suggested on this site. I did as they said...less water, less sugar, as these apples were very sweet, and cooked for about 4 hours. The last half hour i take the lid off to reduce the liquid and smashed the apples with the back of a spoon. I also add some cinnamon, as we like that. Eveyone i have served this to, including my sister who is a fabulous cook LOVES it. In fact, she asked to have it twice when she was visiting this winter. If you like applesauce you will never buy another jar of it again with this recipe.

I used 5 gala apples and only 1/8 cup of sugar. It smells so good while cooking it drew my husband and sons out to the kitchen to find out what I was making. It was delicious! Better than any store-bought applesauce and so easy to make.

Great recipe as it is. To make it 5 star, add a dash of vanilla extract. I took this tip from another applesauce recipe on this site, and it gave this recipe the little zing it was missing. I used red delicious, but I think I'll use honeycrisp next time for a little extra natural sweetness.

Taste like the filling of an apple pie! I used 4 medium size Gala apples, peels kept on, and put all the ingredients in a crock pot for about 3 hours. Could have used a little less water, but that could have been due to the size of the apples or the use of the crock pot. I just used a slotted spoon to drain most of the leftover water.

As far as applesauce goes this is a good recipe. I made mine in the slow cooker on high for 4 hours. I also used Splenda to sweeten it although next time I would decrease the sweetner. Thanx

Good recipe, but make sure you PEEL the apples! Apple peels have a lot of insoluble fiber, which doesn't break down easily. The inner part of the apple has a lot of soluble fiber which creates the gel consistency of applesauce.

Fantastic! I made this as a side for Easter dinner, and everyone raved over it. I doubled the amount of apples (served 6 adults with a little left over), and tripled the amount of cinnamon (personal preference). Everything else, I left the same. I wanted to try brown sugar instead of white, but wound up being out of that ingredient. White sugar worked out fine.

I never made applesauce before but this is great. After reading reviews I used my crock pot and cooked it for 4 hours on high. I used 2 Cortland and 2 Granny Smith apples. I split the liquid to 1/4 cup cider and 1/2 cup water. I also split the sugar to 1/8 cup each white and light brown sugar. And finally I added the juice of 1/2 a lemon. I'm lucky I got any into the fridge to cool 'cause my husband kept eating it hot.
