Just made this for our Memorial Day party and I couldn't resist sampling early :). Never had Sangria so I'm not sure what this is supposed to taste like...but it's pretty darn good!! Hubby and I are sure enjoying it! Maybe there won't be any left for our guests hehe. Made the recipe as written using Cabernet and a sweet red wine, no sugar but dumped in the entire jar of cherries, and ginger ale (I prefer my drinks a little sweeter). I did as one of the other reviewers suggested and removed the citrus fruits the next day but left the cherries in-yum! Nice recipe that I see could be easily tweaked for personal preferences. Thanks!

Incredible! We loved this recipe! Used Trentare 33 red wine ($6/bottle @ Trader Joe's), which was perfectly dry for this recipe. Left out the sugar, cherries, and carbonated water. I didn't have frozen lemonade concentrate, so I used an extra 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice. Served over ice. Delicious!

This was truly awesome stuff! Read through the reviews and made only one or two tweaks...left out the sugar, allowed guests to add ginger ale as opposed to carbonated water to their own glasses per their own taste, and sliced up some strawberries, blackberries and apples to add to the citrus. Tossed in some frozen grapes to each glass to act as ice cubes and there you have it. I was having a paella party (try the Paella I recipe incidentally, you won't be disappointed in that one either) and even the men drank this as opposed to beer. Only mistake was not quadrupling the batch, made only as double and it was gone in no time!

I had a sangria taste test at my house one weekend (I made 3 different ones) and this recipe got first place. Here's what I did: 1. I did't measure the brandy, I poured enough to cover the fruit and let it sit for 36 hours. 2. I used merlot 3. I did NOT use sugar or cherries 4. I used Diet 7-up instead of carbonated water/ginger ale. I will make this again and again!

I'm personally not a sangria fan, but this was very well liked by friends & family. Put it in a big beverage dispenser and made a frozen ice ring of OJ, wine and club soda w/ fresh fruit in it to keep it cold while in dispenser - looked very nice!

Made exactly as written with the exception that we added a sliced apple. It was delicious! Very refreshing! A definite keeper for us.

I made this for our super bowl party last year. I doubled the recipe and still ended up having to make 4 more (double) batches. It is now the most requested think I make for parties. I used much more fruit and dumped in the entire jar of maraschino cherries.
