This cake is beautiful and easy. I'm not sure I like the semisweet chocolate in the icing, but that's just an opinion. It does go nicely with the not-to-sweet cake. Thanks for the recipe!

This cake was very yummy!!! However, after trying the "One Bowl Choc Cake" recipe off here, I think that one's my favorite. It's so simple and delicious, it's hard to beat it.

Very yummy. Moist with a great chocolate flavor. I used boiling coffee instead of water and frosted with German chocolate coconut-pecan frosting.

On taste alone this would be a five star, no doubt. My problem was that the recipe rises quite tall, but then the middle falls deep down, making it impossible to use as a cake. I even tried it as cupcakes, but the same thing happened--a deep well in the middle. If someone can help me remedy this I would be very appreciative.

I made this as cupcakes for my brother's graduation party and frosted them with vanilla frosting. Everyone loved them; very moist. After all what wouldn't be moist after 2 sticks of butter, over a cup of sour cream and 4 eggs? It is a great recipe, don't get me wrong, but it's about as close as you can get to serving heart disease in edible form.

Mmmm this cake was so good! I cut the recipe in half and used two squares of unsweetened chocolate in place of the cocoa. I baked it in a 9x13 pan for about 25 minutes. I did not try the frosting but used a butter cream frosting from this site. The only problem that I had was that the cake came out kind of 'wet' but maybe that is because I put the frosting on while it was still hot (next time I will be patient!). Will definitely make this again.

This cake was just your average chocolate cake. It's not worth the slaving away in the kitchen, you might as well go buy a store cake. It needs a lot more chocolate flavor - I would suggest using semisweet chocolate chips for moisture and flavor. Yum!

Maybe I did something wrong but this was okay. I give it a 4 stars because the cake was light and fluffy. I didn't care for the frosting as my family and I could taste the cocoa in it. I followed the recipe exactly.

Just Decadent! It was my first attempt at a chocolate cake. It came out moist, not light and airy, almost a Fudgy flavor, I got so many complements on this Cake! The three layers came out so perfectly from the pans! I didn't make the icing on this recipe, I used a peanut butter icing on mine. The cake was just sublime!

The cake was excellent but I thought the frosting was too heavy for this cake. A lighte frosting would have been better. I thought I was going to go into sugar shock with this.

Wow! This is a little more time consuming than some other cakes but it is well worth the effort. It is so moist, dense, and delicious. I did not change a thing and it was great. The best part was the icing and I was surprised with the addition of sour cream. This is now one of my favorite frostings, with or without the chocolate because it has the perfect amount of sweetness and goes well with anything.

The frosting was great - not too sweet with a bit of tang from the sour cream. The cake was dry - I wonder what I did wrong? Baked up nicely though - no high domes which makes frosting easier.

I've been looking for a really good choc cake for a while and this one is excellent. FYI, in my haste I forgot to add the water however it still turned out lovely and moist so I think I will continue to make it that way.
