We used tortilla chips instead of the "bowls" and also used pinto beans instead of the kidneys (I had boiled up a batch the night before). We loved the flavor of this. So much better than ripping open a packet of taco seasoning and just as easy.

I made this and absolutely loved it. I really simplified it by using ground turkey, a whole onion, kidney beans and corn, and a pack of spicy taco seasoning. I baked the shells too (but I reccomend spraying the sides of the bowl and not the bottom). I layed down the lettuce, about 1.5 cups of the meat mix and topped it with maybe 2 tablespoons of salsa and shredded cheese. LOVED it.

This is definitely a keeper! Quick, easy, and very tasty! I did substitute about a cup of well rinsed black beans for the kidney beans and made my own salsa (chopped tomato, minced coriander, garlic, minced scallion, and lime juice). Also found that it was very difficult to get the tortillas crisp in the oven. After a good 10 minutes they held their shape but were not as crisp as I would have liked.

IMO the meat lacked flavor. Don't use Chayenne chili powder...hot!! We like hot, but too hot to enjoy! I suggest adding lots of garlic powder and pinch more of salt.

This meal tastes fantastic and is easy to prepare! The ingredients for the beef mixture seem so simple, yet pack a flavorful punch. To cut down on prep time I serve with tortilla chips instead of making the taco bowls. We serve with sides of sour cream, cheese, olives, tomato, lettuce, and jalapenos. My family loves this dish!

Very yummy, kids ate it with no complaints. The only change I made was mixed the meat with refried beans. (no kidney bean on hand) but still very good

Excellent dish! I used the 8 inch tortillas and I would recommend using a small metal strainer if you have one to hold the tortilla shell in the oil...it forms a better circle in the middle than a ladle does (unless you have a really large ladle)

Yummy! My sister is very calorie aware even though she is smaller than most teenagers and she loved this. I used the ground turkey instead of beef just because we were having a girl night and I didn't want her to cry about fat. Lol I made the shells before she got there so she never really thought about that. Simple and so good.
