YUM! These were so easy and different! I love the salty/sweet flavors together. I used Ritz crackers because that is what I have, and I like them a lot more than Saltines. They were tasty!

These are amazing. I've made them twice this holiday season, and they've been delicious each time. My husband is picky, and he can't get enough of them. Based on the reviews, I don't stir the butter and brown sugar after they start boiling. I do stir to mix while the butter is melting. The toffee has been crisp and flaky each time. I do use dark brown sugar. The first time I made them, I lined my pan with foil and then greased it. The second time I made them, I just lined with foil. No extra oil. They did not stick to the foil at all. The foil was nice, however, because when it was time to cut the cookies, I just lifted the foil off the pan onto my cutting board, and then cut the cookies with a knife. Easy, easy, easy! This is definitely a 5 star recipe!

OK... I have been playing with this recipe... Like others mentioned, my toffee was a bit soft and granular. Also, while I loved the taste, the color wasn't right. I switched from white sugar to dark brown sugar. I also combine the butter and sugar well and then let it boil for 3-4 minutes without stirring. I didn't know that the no stirring part is important for toffee, but apparently it is. Anyway, with these minor changes, my "cookies" came out amazing!

These were super easy to make but way too sweet for my liking. I'm not a fan of semisweet chocolate so next time I will use milk chocolate.

My family absolutely loves these saltine toffee cookies...I have made a few batches already to keep up with the demand! :) The best part is, it's SOOO easy to make. The hard part for me is breaking it all up...I like them in bite size pieces, so it's a little more difficult. But other than that, this is a fantastic recipe! I topped my first batch with multicolored nonpareil sprinkles, and the next few with pistachios and walnuts.

Very different but good. I didn't use the foil but sprayed my pan with Pam. I also used light brown sugar since that's all I had on hand. Also lightly dusted the top with sea salt as another reviewer mentioned. Next time I will top with crushed pretzels!

I really wish I would have read the reviews before making this - I was worried about the butter and brown sugar burning so I stirred it constantly for the eintire 3 minutes using a wisk and the "toffee" turned out like caramel. Still has a good flavor and I will most likely try it again without stirring, but I wasted my time and ingredients on this round - argh!

This is an easy cookie to make a large quantity of without sacrificing quality. The cookies come out wonderful and they are really delicious - perfect balance of salty/sweet/crunchy/chocolatel-y. I have a nut allergy so I substituted the nuts with crushed candy cane bits - just a little for color. The little bit of mint was a nice addition.

It's awesome!! I do make a few alterations..... -I line cookie sheet with foil and spray with Pam -I use enough crackers to cover the cookie sheet that has sides -butter and sugar i do 1 1/2 cups each -chocolate chips i do half milk chocolate and half semisweet -after turning off oven and sprinkling on chips i pop baking in oven for almost a min to melt chips quickly -and i toast almond slices before sprinkling them on Tip: when cooled cut in to four parts then on cutting board pizza cutter works great to cut into small pieces I've been told it's as addictive as crack. Enjoy :-)

Love this recipe! I have made it for several potluck events and it's always a hit. I'm a dude that doesn't cook/bake all that much but these are easy for anyone to make. You can even customize them by adding in a bit of white chocolate with the semi-sweep, or by using different kinds of nuts or sprinkles instead of the pecans. The original recipes is great as it is though. BTW, I've renamed them "Crack Bars" because they are soooo addictive. People can't keep their crackhead hands off them!
