This is really good! I threw in some mozarella and provole cheese just because I had a bit left, and it still tasted increadible.

I'm giving this 5 stars only because I can't give it more! This is DELICIOUS! I didn't make any changes from the original recipe; although I did use home canned salmon from a friend in AK. I'm sure I'll make this again and again!

Great recipe! But it must be with real salmon and garlic. We also made a few other adjustments, instead of chicken broth we used vegetable broth and next time will only use one cup for a thicker, hardier soup.

The recipe, as listed, is more like cheese soup with salmon in it. Leave out the cheese, and you actually have a lovely salmon chowder. We prefer this without the cheese.

Very good, but I don't find canned salmon appealing with all the small bones (which the can says are edible). You can buy boneless canned but it is expensive. Next time I may buy frozen fillets.

Great recipe! I used left over salmon that I had BBQ on a cedar plank the night before, and it gave the soup a great smokey flavor. I left out the dill because I was not sure how it would mix with the smokey flavors from the wood, but I will include it next time. This is now one of my favorite soup recipes!

Didn't use any cheddar cheese. Hubby and son loved it!!!! Halved the recipe to see if they liked it before using 4 cans of salmon or fresh $$

AMAZING. I love getting salmon chowder when we're at a medium-high to high-end restaurant because those seem to be the only places that do a decent job of it - even here in the Seattle area where Alaskan salmon is abundant (don't get me started on that Atlantic salmon garbage). This recipe is as good, if not better than, those restaurants. Some may prefer a more creamy, less chunky chowder, but not me. Don't get me wrong, this chowder was very creamy too, but just not more cream than substance like some places make it. This was fantastic. My 4 year old twin girls gobbled it down and my 6 year old only hesitated a little bit because he has a weird thing against corn (who doesn't like corn? especially creamed corn? whatever). I will definitely be making this again. It's great comfort food - especially for all the grey, rainy days we get here in the great Pacific NW.

That's a bomb!!! I skipped the cheese, just added some grated cheddar when served, and my son who hates fish swallowed a huge portion! It's very hearty and warming, and I think it's more healthier if cheese is omitted.

Wowza. What a great recipe. I made a few substitutions due to necessity and keeping my calorie count down. I used 4 cups of chicken broth, skipped the cheddar, skipped the corn, used 1/2 can evaporated milk. I used leeks that I had hanging around, and a small onion. I had fresh dill, so used that, chopped...maybe about 2 tbs., and fresh garlic. I also used a pound of frozen salmon (thawed). This recipe was easy, smelled fantastic, and everyone loved it. I offerred parmesan to sprinkle on top, and some used it, some didnt. Thanks so much for the recipe. It's great to have something different to serve, especially during Lent (using vegetable broth of course lol) YAY!
