Glorified hamburger patty. Not horrible, but I won't make it again.

I made this recipe without changes and it turned out great. The recipe does not say what temperature to use after the sauce is added. I used low and it was perfect.

This recipe is good as written, but even as a ketchup lover I found the ketchup taste a bit overwhelming. I will probably cut it in half the next time I make this. And I will double the sauce. My husband loved it though and I loved how very easy it was.

This was pretty good. I added the can of cream of mushroom soup also. I am glad I did or I wouldn't have had enough gravy.

Never had homemade salisbury steaks before, and this was an excellent recipe. I sauteed finely minced onions and added them to the meat, and doubled the gravy. Even the picky eaters and naysayers devoured this one. Thanks!

I agree that the sauce wasn't so great....almost bitter tasting. I think next time I'll just make some gravy from a rioux and extra french onion soup. I also feel like the meat needs a little something more so that it doesn't just taste like a hamburger.

I am rating this recipe for the patties only. After reading other reviews i made the gravy using the recipe from a box of Lipton Beef Onion soup mix(i did add the remainder of the can of french onion soup to the gravy) My husband, who does not eat leftovers , ate these patties 2 nights in a row! My grown son also loved these. I don't eat beef but i will definately make them again as they are so easy to prepare.

I made this recipe a couple of times "as is" - Will give 3 1/2 ***. Did not like the ketchup and not enough gravy. After a few modifications... FIVE STARS *****! Here are the modifications I make each time now (thanks to a compilation of others' suggestions on this site): 1.) Chop up one medium onion (fine) and mix it with the hamburger 2.) I used 3 TBL Crisco to brown the steaks in the pan (and then drained before I added the gravy 2.) Double the gravy ingredients and omit the ketchup completely 3.) Add 1 can Mushroom Soup, 1 Pkg. Lipton's Dry Onion Soup Mix and 1/2 Cup brown gravy (I use Campbell's most of the time, but any brand works fine). I prepare the steaks on the stove (don't use the oven as some have suggested), and they turn out perfectly. Serve with mashed potatoes, fresh green beans and Romaine Salad (with dried cherries or cranberries). Yummy!

I've never had salisbury steak that wasn't from a frozen dinner. It was SO GOOD!! The only thing I did different was double the sauce like others recommended and added sauted mushrooms. I can't imagine it without the mushrooms, it really added to the recipe. Next time I might reduce the amound of ketchup. But as is, it was still an awesome recipe. I will DEFINITLY make it often. Thanks for sharing!

We all started out really liking this but toward the end of the meal one of my boys said the sauce started tasting funky and we all kind of agreed. I used Campbells soup which we usually like. It was very easy to make, just wasn't quite for us. Thanks anyway!

I substituted Liptons onion soup mix which seemed to work well. Sauce is too sweet with the 1/4 cup tomato, suggest using alternate (brown?) sauce. Steak was yummy!!

WOW is all I can say! This is the greatest salisbury steak ever made! I've made it 3x now and we love it! I just remebered, that I never 'rated' it! Well, now that it's 11pm here and I just heated up the leftovers for a 'snack' I thought I'd just tell you I LOVE IT!!!!! The only 'change' I made was to double the sauce, so I'd have enough for all the mashed potatoes, other than that, leave it alone! Thanx!

This is super yummy! My picky 9 year old can't get enough of this. I did add an extra can of french onion soup because we like gravy. My family loves this and it will become one of our staples.
