The only reason why I gave it 4 stars is because it doesn't make enough sauce. I double the sauce and use a little bit of cream of mushroom soup in it also.

My father-in-law was coming over and I was looking for a classic old time meal to make for him. This fit the bill!It was great and he loved it. I did make extra gravy to have for the potatoes. Thank you for this yummy recipe I will make it again with or without my father-in-law visiting.

This was good, but wasn't really something to write home to Mama about. It tastes just like the Salisbury Steak I usually fix. I usually used seasoned croutons, a few other seasonings with extra lean ground chuck, and use golden mushroom soup to make my gravy. I'm no saying it tasted bad or anything, it just wasn't a big surprise for me. Thanks anyway.

This was a simple and delicious dish. When served with mashed potatoes, it was the perfect comfort food. I doubled the ingredients for the gravy to make sure we had enough, because my family loves gravy.

This recipe was REALLY good! I to made some changes. Omitted the ketchup and used a can of cream of mushroom soup. Added sauteed mushrooms and onions to the gravy. The patties were moist and flavorful. This recipe is a definite keeper.

I made this tonight and it was delicious. I did make some revisions but I think it would be good without them. I doubled the sauce by using the remainder of the onion soup and 1 can of cream of mushroom soup. Then doubled the rest of the ingredients except the worsteshire sauce. Instead of the water I used beef broth. I also sauteed 8 oz. of sliced mushrooms before frying the meat patties. Absolutely delicious served over rice (for DH) and mashed potatoes for me!

It was tasty. I made it with dry onion soup mix/1.5 cups water and some beef oxo instead of the condensed soup. we liked it a lot. served with mashed potatoes.

My whole family loved it! This is what I call comfort food. I did not have any problems at all with my patties crumbling or falling apart. I made sure they got a good sear before I flipped them over and they stayed together just fine. I used ground sirloin and these were still very moist and tender. Followed recipe with the exceptions for doubling the gravy and adding a can of cream of mushroom soup to the gravy, put patties and gravy in a covered baking dish with gravy at 350 for 1 hour. Came out very very moist and tender. Will definitely be making this again.

This was a really good recipe I had never tried making Salisbury Steak before. I think I may add a little sage next time and make smaller pattys. I like that I usually have eveything to make this already on hand.

I followed the recipe exactly as described and it turned out great. My wife and I really liked it and it was pretty easy to make. We used lean ground beef (93%) and the patties turned out very tender. After browning the patties, there was hardly any excess fat in the pan that needed to be drained off so we didn’t. Homemade mashed potatoes went well with this meal but I guess that’s a no brainer. The buttered corn worked nicely too. The ingredients of any recipe can be altered or tweaked to individual preference or taste which I might consider doing at some point with this recipe for the sake of experimentation but, for the record, this recipe is perfectly fine as written. I know we’ll be making it again before long.

This was very good - more of a tomato taste (due to the ketchup) than I'm used to in Salisbury Steak, but still very good and easy to make. If you want lots of extra sauce/gravy for mashed potatoes, then definitely double the sauce ingredients. Otherwise, the amount of sauce is sufficient for the meat by itself.

Alterations I've made that make it a 5 star (this is for 3lbs of ground beef): One packet of onion soup mix, generous grind of pepper, some garlic powder to taste, one tbs of worch., and seasoned bread crumbs for the meat mixture. Au Jus gravy mix, thickened with flour, for the gravy. Browned the steaks, then poured the gravy over them, 350deg covered for 45 mins. Fantastic!

This was delish! I was so scared my hubbykins wouldn't like it once I saw all the onions in the French Onion Soup but he loved it anyhow! They shriveled up, LOL. Anyhow I omitted the ketchup as per other reviews and next time I will add one more can of soup for more gravy!(minus the flour though)

I did not have a can of french onion soup, so I used a package of onion soup mix, and made the correct amount with that. This is one of our family favorites. We love the gravy on mashed potatoes
