Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons pearl sago
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon lemon peel, cut into strips

Directions

  1. Stir together sago and milk and let rest 8 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. In a bowl, combined soaked sago, sugar, baking soda, bread crumbs and butter. Stir well. Pour into a pudding mold or other heatproof bowl with the lemon peel and seal tightly.
  3. Bring a large pot of water to boil. Place the pudding on a rack, submerged in the water, and boil for 2 1/2 hours, topping off the water as necessary. Serve hot or cold.
