I made this for last nights supper. Followed the recipe & used a small fresh cut onion when browning the meat. Doubled the sauce. Once gravy was made I put it a in a crock pot on low for 4 hours or so. Will make this again & again! Served it with red cabbage, Spaetzle (German egg noodles) & Brotchen. (German Bread) Will add mushrooms to left overs for tonight!

Really tasty and easy. I didn't have any brown gravy mix so I used flour, beef soup base and milk and it turned out great. Will make again.

My husband raved about this and it was so easy! I didn't have an envelope of gravy mix, so I found an online recipe for the mix, threw all of the ingredients in the crock pot and let it go. Wonderful and comforting. Mashed potatoes were a perfect side dish.

Excellent recipe. My family really loved this recipe and my kids are super picky. I just added a little more brown sugar than it stated. I will do this again. Thank you!!!

We tried this with pork and it was very good. The gravy has a hint of a sweet flavor.

the flavor of the gravy was good, but it was a little too watery and the beef was too tough for us.

We really liked this - put ours in the crock pot and it of course came out tender. Added a little more brown sugar and Worcestershire than it called for.

I was thought this would be better than it was. I think it was missing something, maybe some wine. I made the recipe as it was written, but next time I will try adding some other things to suit our tastes.

Quite good, but the meat was not as tender as it would have been had it marinated properly. I made it once and haven't made it since, so it didn't make much of in impression on me.

I was surprisingly disappointed with this since it's gotten so many good reviews. It just wasn't anything unique. Family voted against keeping this one.

The meat was super tender, I used as many fresh items as I had on hand rather than dried, but did not change any ingredient. I used Tofutti dairy free sour cream to finish it off with. I served with rice to make it gluten free also!

EXCELLENT RECIPE!! Very quick and easy to prepare. Changes made: fresh chopped onion instead of powder, and I didn't have a brown gravy mix on hand but I did have pork gravy mix and that actually might have been a bit better. Cooked covered in a sautuesse pan on the stovetop on a low simmer for about 1 1/2 hours. It fell apart. Delicious, will make again.

Delicious and easy! My husband and teenager loved it! I used all the ingredients the recipe called for but I didn't have onion powder on hand so I used dried minced onions. My family isn't a fan of ginger but I still kept it in the recipe and they loved it. I cooked it in my Dutch oven for just over an hour and it came out tender. I made extra sauce as many reviewers recommended it. I'm so glad I did. I can't wait to make this again. Thanks Kathy!

This is really good. I don't like onion powder, though, so I just sliced half an onion & added it to the meat. I cooked it in the oven covered for a couple hours at 350 degrees & it was very tender. Served over egg noodles. Yum. Super easy, too.

This was really good. I made it as stated, but would make some changes for next time. I would consider making more sauce since I served it over noodles. I'd leave out the salt since it was a little too salty for me. I'd put in about a teaspoon of ginger and an additional tablespoon of brown sugar. By doing that I think it would be just about perfect!

This was so tender for a tough cut of meat. I only had Au Jus Gravy mix and it added a lot of flavor. I also added 3 cloves of garlic and upped the red wine vinegar and brown sugar. My husband and I are on South Beach diet so we served it over braised broccoli. This is a keeper!
